The BEST eyelash curlers on the planet

Had to share this. The Shu Uemura eyelash curlers are a true wonder product. Have rec'd them to many friends, some with well endowed lashes, others practically threadbare are unfailingly ALL of them are in love! They almost remove the need for mascara if I'm honest, work in secs, don't hurt at all and have lasted me 5 years without breaking, needing replacement bits and still curl as well today as the day i bought them! They make me feel 'dolled up' when I'm still in my pjs at 2pm as the twins finally give me 5 mins to get ready to be seen in public... If you use/rely on eyelash curlers, you need to get these x

Bloody hell, they'd better be good for that price. They look exactly like my Estee Lauder ones I got free!

hathorinareddress · 29/03/2012 09:23

I have ones that look just like that and I got them in Tescos for buttons.

What's so special that I'd be persuaded to shell out £20 for those ones?

hatcam · 29/03/2012 11:46

I can never see a difference when i curl my lashes, what am I doing wrong? They look nice for about 30 seconds but seem to drop really quickly.

LtheWife · 29/03/2012 12:06

It's all about finding the right curlers for your eye shape. Some curlers are more curved than others and some are wider than others. I believe the Shu Umeras are less curved and slightly wider than other brands as they're designed for the Japanese market.

TheDowager · 29/03/2012 13:55

i HAVE SOME - NO BETTER THAN CHEAPIES.

chipstick10 · 29/03/2012 18:42

hatcam i have exactly the same problem. I have tried every way poss. Heating them first. Holding them for seconds then tightening again. Holding them for 20 seconds really firmly yet nothing works. After 30 seconds or so they drop. I have tried loads of different curlers.

MooMinCow · 29/03/2012 19:04

I tried the method on and it works - curl lasted all day!

TreesDogsBooks · 29/03/2012 20:11

I have some which have lasted years but no different to cheap ones from wilkinsons.

TheDowager · 29/03/2012 20:21

MooMin - I will try that.

anniewoo · 31/03/2012 09:35

Thr Dowager i agree . No better than a plastc one i used to have . In fact it was better than Shu uemera one. Am looking out for the plastic pne

whackamole · 31/03/2012 21:21

I saw a similar review elsewhere and wondered how spending £20 more than I did on the ones I already have could make the curl better.

SnapesOnAPlane · 31/03/2012 21:34

I usually facepalm at people who come onto S&B threads and post stuff like "^£20 for foundation? That's insane, you ridiculous doorknobs, use this £1.50 Overly-Orange One Shade Only Pasty Thick Goopy MESS instead. Well. It works for me..."
Any £2 eyelash curler will deliver the same results, unless you have the specific eye shape the Shu Uemura curlers are made for. If you do, then it'll be a god send and you'll love them. If you don't it's a waste of £20 that you could be spending on masses of cheap foundation Wink.

lololizzy · 31/03/2012 22:50

no good on me. My eyes are v round and they pinch and hurt. My ones from the 99p shop are better
yet another expensive beauty buy sigh will I ever learn

whackamole · 31/03/2012 22:58

How very dare you Snapes! My last foundation cost me £21.50 but as of now is proving a waste of money Grin

lololizzy · 31/03/2012 23:03

i wish Space NK had given me some advice and told me they were the wrong shape for my western, very rounded eye shape - not the first time they've given me wrong advice (or none) and made me waste a lot of dosh that could have been better spent on chocolate or wine

ggirltwin2pinot · 31/03/2012 23:09

I wish you could test them out before buying
I have same problem as hatcam-nothiing ever lasts on mine.

whackamole · 31/03/2012 23:42

It pisses me off in general that beauty items cannot be returned here. All beauty and make up items can be returned in the USA.

I think Boots are doing returns now - I know the Clinique counter in Watford does anyway.

lololizzy · 01/04/2012 00:27

so i guess i need very curved shape. which probably don't exist. Wish they'd told me they better suit japanese eyes. It is crap that most beauty products can't be returned. Especially when you've asked for advice, yet been sold wrong shade.

valiumredhead · 01/04/2012 15:15

whack Beauty items CAN be returned - I do it all the time from Boots to the big names.

whackamole · 01/04/2012 17:56

Only at Boots though Valium (or maybe other dept stores). We have a standalone MAC and Illamasqua store in Liverpool, and while I love most of the products, I was really annoyed that when I asked I was told they don't do returns.

Also, I mean returns where the product has been used - at the Clinique counter they told me so long as we hadn't taken the piss with it [sic] then we could return it with a receipt. In the states you can return anything if it doesn't suit your skin after using it for a while. I don't know anywhere else you can here.

valiumredhead · 01/04/2012 20:29

I have returned a MAC product as well - think they were having you on! Wink

josie182 · 29/05/2014 22:18

ggirltwin2pinot: it looks like you CAN return the shu eyelash curler at www.shuuemura.co.uk/makeup/eyes/palettes/eyelash-curler

They offer a money back guarantee too :)
