I hate the stuff! We are going away to south Africa next week and it's hot and sunny so we are going to need it. It makes me feel so sticky and claustraphobic. I got the nivea kids one for my 13 month old and it's awful. Which ones are good for all of us and won't break the bank?!

SPF20.
It's one of the original Once-A-Day ones.
You have to put it on and let it dry for 30 minutes IIRC.
(It does stain white clothes I found but it washes out)

I used it years ago when I went to Egypt in June (it was 100 degress in parts Shock ) and I've got very huffy skin that doesn't tan well but burns easily.
My skin was fine, no redness.

I'm going to buy some for our summer holidays this year (John Lewis and Costco sell it.I'll have to price check)

I would also say try P20 - or Ultrasun.

They both are applied in the morning -after your shower. They both are a chemically smellingliquid, wich you pour into your hands and rub on. I think you are meant to give it 20 mins before going into the sun. Then that is it for the day.

No stickiness, no need to reapply. and the smell fades once it is dried.

We use it - and it is brilliant. did stain some clothes though - although I have found that other suncreams have done inthe past too.

Ultrasun is the way to go.
We used it in Greece in August for the whole family. DS had factor 50. Only thing to be wary of is if you come out of the pool and vigorously dry yourself with a towel it will come off. This happened to my DH.

I am very fair and it is the first time ever that I haven't burned or got prickley heat.

I find Ultrasun a much thicker cream (for some reason I like that). P20 is very chemically smelling & much more like an oil. I also needed a higher factor.

I think I got some good deals online with Ultrasun, but I know that John Lewis sell it.

P20 is good, as is Ultrasun and Sunsense. I've recently tried quite a few as I don't like any of the 'high street' brands so shopped on Amazon a bit! The very best in terms of how it feels on you is Paulas Choice spf45, which is totally undetectable and very effective. It is more expensive, but I have come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for with sun protection!

Yup p20 here - just wipe it on and off you go. Home bargains had it in last week Grin

I think I bought our Ultrasun on a flight last year. It worked out very good value.

Will take a trip to HOme Bargains and see if I can pick some up for 'summer'

Thank you all, would it be okay for my ds? He's 13 months.

Tired - you can get ultra sensitive 50+ and Family. www.ultrasun.co.uk/products.htm

I used Boots Soltan for Babies on recent trip to NZ - light & SPF50. Worked very well. I tend to try and keep babies/toddlers out of the sun as much as possible, wear light long sleeve clothes, hat at all times etc. Sit in shade where possible.

Beware that whilst once a day products like P20 are great here & in the Med (I've used them and loved them) they are not recommended as a once a day product down under as the sun is so much stronger you will get burnt if you use as recommended (in NZ & Oz anyway - not sure if SA is the same)
