Hello. I want to have a go at fake tanning myself, but I'm clueless as to what's the best product to get. Spray or cream? I'd like a very light colour - have a big do to go to and would just like to lift my pale palour a bit. So does anyone one have any recommendations please? TIA.

Depending how soon your 'do' is, I like the Johnson's Holiday Sun. It's basically a moisturiser with a hint of colour which, if applied daily will build a natural-looking colour. You do need a few days to build up the tan so use if the big night is a little way off!! HTH.

THat sounds great and also something that I couldn't make a hash of - don't want to end up looking orange but a moisturiser sounds like the perfect solution. thanks!

Ronseal, does exactly what it says on the tin, available in various shades of brown.

Confused, isn't that something you put on fences?? Or have I posted a really dim question?

Ryoko is being sarcastic.

I use Cocoa butter with a hint of tanning agent, make sure you exfoliate really well before using, and then alternate after every shower with normal moisturiser. After a week you'll have a really nice natural looking tan with no streaky bits.

I use fake bake either the gradual one light, or the wash off one which is fab, stops the build up and stays put till you have a shower.

I use fake bake too - it smells better than the others and I don't streak.

Have also used St Tropez, but prefer fake bake.

Make sure you exfoliate and moisterise your dry bits first!

I use Zen Ten it doesn't have that tell tale fake tan smell that a lot do. As with all exfoliating is the key to not going streaky!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 20/03/2012 16:46

Marvellous, thank you. So, exfoliating is a must, whatever I end up using.

Just used piz buin spray on tan - I didn't like how it went on so much, but the colour was amazing and came on really quick with no streaks-my new favourite!

TheCraicDealer · 21/03/2012 00:35

St Tropez are diversifying; they now have one for pale, sensitive skins ("hint of a tint/glowy") and a super duper dark one. Guess which one I bought I bought....Grin going to visit DP's parents on Thursday, hopefully fake tan experiment isn't ill timed.

lostboysfallin · 21/03/2012 00:41

the l'oreal one is good, gradual moisturiser
