I am done with babies. Dd is almost 1 and I am looking forward to a summer of no morning sickness or new baby blues. :)

Rummaging around my wardrobe when the weather was nice last week was a thoroughly depressing exercise. :(

I NEED to update it on a budget.

I will probably spend the summer chasing ds 3yo and dd 1yo around the garden/ park do need to be über practical. Hmm

I have...
sandals (birkenstocks - yes I know they're the marmite of sandal but hey ho)
Skinny jeans - black and indigo
Couple of cardis - sky blue and grey
Shorts - knee length and calf length

That's about it. Blush

I'm 30, size 10, 5 foot 2 with short legs. I have brown cropped hair, fair skin and green eyes.

Pleeeeeease help! :)

I have just come on here to ask the same question!

I have just rifled through my wardrobe and feel lumpy and uninspired! I generally like birkenstocks, leggings, skinny jeans and tunic tops but feel like all my tunic tops are a bit voluminous and make me look like a tank :(

I'm 35, 5 foot 3, and a size 12 with long tatty highlighted hair, slim legs and big boobs-I would like inspiration as well!

I like cropped jeans too, but don't know what tops to wear with them!? Are birkenstocks still fashionable (were they ever??)?

warmandwooly · 19/03/2012 17:52

I would say... Cheap vest tops-apparently pastels are in
Some shorts
Nice dresses

Maybe from Primark/H and M to make your budget go further. Cosmopolitan has a dotty p discount token in. Pm me if you want it and I will pop it in the post for you (or if its a code I will pm you should you want it.

ENormaSnob · 19/03/2012 18:11

Are you in the uk?

If so I would just stick to jeans and a waterproof Wink

gregssausageroll · 19/03/2012 18:48

I would stick with jeans that you can may be turn up if it is warmer. Some nice flats and vest t shirts with a couple of pretty cardis.

MidnightinMoscow · 19/03/2012 19:11

Some pretty shirts from DP here that would look good with jeans and shorts:

Peach

scallop collar

butterflies

H&M have some good chino's/cropped skinny trousers here Maybe in a stone colour as you have dark jeans.

Also, what about a blazer, tends to smarten but also can make an outfit look a little fresher than with a cardigan.

Would get a couple of these in say white and navy, because you can then add various scarves.

If you do go for dresses, I'd go for something very simple like this so you can mix and match with a blazer, scarf and sandals to get as many outfits out of it.

Ballet flats from Primark can be good too, look out for a nude pair.

Hope this helps.

Hi
seconding midnights suggestions - but I'd add a practical but pretty Sweatshirt - however I'd make sure it's a decent quality one such as this navy one from joules (which is £30 in sale) I have been living in mine as it's slightly different to a normal one but still easy to just stick in the wash.
There are lots on ebay too

Personally when I feel I need to have a style change I look for different catalogues for shops for inspiration even if I can't afford the clothes - cheaper to get free catalogues from Joules/Boden/Great Plains/fatface/white stuff etc etc delivered than magazines and they have more practical outfit ideas than most mags too - then you can look at how you can copy them from Primarni/ebay.

This blog talks about this at the mo - some good tips on there too.

midnight you have some great suggestions there. :)
i'm not a blouse wearer as i have BROAD shoulders (they seem to get bigger with each pregnancy!) and they feel a bit too work-y. they are pretty tho so might have a look in store...

the h&m stuff is great. what are they like for online service?

also has anyone seem a jersey blazer? my broad shoulders need a little stretch . if it fits my shoulders it can often swamp the rest of me.

hmm just looked at some past threads about h&m being a bit iffy with online delivery etc. think that might have to wait till i can do some dc free shopping...
have some stuff from dorothy perkins in my basket but not sure about proceeding to checkout yet. Confused

Whenisitmysleepytime · 20/03/2012 15:18

Just tried too and can only get free delivery. Going to wait just incase someone figures it out Grin

ruby22 · 20/03/2012 19:49

I like that sweatshirt, have read the reviews, did any of you order smaller size than normal or just your usual size?
tried the code it seemed to work although did not go v far in process trying to decide what size to order.

ruby22 · 20/03/2012 19:50

OP blazers- there was a good thread recently, topshop ponte boyfriend blazer in grey or navy, Zara have lots of colours and I think maybe DP have some too.

mirpuppet · 20/03/2012 19:55

Thanks for the code -- it is giving me 20% off full priced items; not the sweatshirt. Not the greatest colour for me so I will probably give it a pass.

Nux · 20/03/2012 20:17

If you are looking for ballet flats I recently found some for £12 in BHS of all places, there was silver and nude and some other colours - I bought the silver ones and they are comfy - I may go back for the nude - recommended and a bargain!

Nux · 20/03/2012 20:17

Were not was facepalm

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/03/2012 20:22

Primark- I bought some dresses last week (stretchy so probably not natural fabric so not good for heat) a black gypsy blouse and a couple of print pencil skirts.
But they will survive being crubched up in a suitcase.

I bought 2 pairs Linen M&S trousers £19 -£20 IIRC for summer.
