I could do with giving my hair a bit of a make over, its so lank and doesnt shine at all. I did have a baby 9 months ago so i think that might have something to do with it and also we dont have a shower so i find it difficult to wash it frequently/thoroughly. I was thinking of maybe trying to deep condition once a week and use a leave in conditioner and also dry shampoo and hopefully i might get half decent looking hair through using all these things!

Cheap but it works... Schwarzkopf Gliss products. I'm often tempted to buy "nicer" products, but I always go back to Gliss when they run out.

Ooh will check that out. I like elasticiser but it is ££££££

I second the John Freida stuff in the pot (Miraculous Recovery?). JF stuff is often on offer. You can buy a sachet to try it out.

I like the Batiste dry shampoo (I use the dark hair one). Also use the Aussie 3 minute miracle as my regular conditioner.

Best product I've ever found for a polished sheeny look is called 'After Party', think it is by BedHead and comes in a pink tube with a ball on top. Can only get it from hairdressers.

Raw coconut oil if you want to go natural, or Aussie three minute miracle if you don't.

Aveda Damage Repair. Pretty pricey but absolutely worth it. My hair was breaking and really dull before I started using it and I tried several products to give it a boost. Now its soft and shiney and all-round quite lovely

hazchem · 19/03/2012 20:12

Raw coconut oil is the shit.

I used it yesterday and all day OH kept looking at me. And about 8ish he goes have you done something to your hair. I said yeah coconut oil. He was like oh it's shinny and sort of dark and smooth and I know you haven't been to the hairdresser.

He wouldn't normally notice something like that.

Oh and it's working well on my tummy for softening and smoothing away the stretch marks

Ifancyanewname · 19/03/2012 21:43

Ooo thank you all for replying. Where can you get coconut oil from and is it ok to use on hair thats prone to grease? I'm def going to give these a go, my hair just hangs there like a horrible dull curtain :(

Hi OP, you can get raw coconut oil from health food shops. It's solid and white when cool but when you warm it it turns into a clear liquid. I tend to warm the pot in a sink of hot water first, then pour the liquid onto my hands and run it through dry hair. Then I leave it for as long as possible and shampoo out.

It should be fine to use on grease-prone hair, just make sure you use a good clarifying shampoo (I use Aussie Mega) to get it all out. You may need to do two shampoos.
