t shirts for 15 quid... as I've always liked the bags but never had one, I'm hoping to get a t shirt or two... is it going to sell out straight away a la designers @H&M? or can I go to bed and shop at my leisure tomorrow? not sure if it goes on sale at midnight but it says from 19/3. I like it & its very affordable, but what do you super stylish types think?

Helium could you live with the thin-ness of the fabric if you got a tailor to adjust the fit? Might not cost that much to do....
a family friend would buy whatever she liked even if was way too big size-wise and just go to the local dry cleaners to get the items tailored to fit for a few quid.

of course that might be tricky with thin jersey as it's such a PITA to sew...

teejwood · 20/03/2012 00:59

oh - and selfishly - did you buy any of the other items - eg the T's? and if so what was the fit like?

heliumballoon · 20/03/2012 01:13

The t shirt was a good fit, less flappy, more streamlined. But looked crap on me due to the busyness of the print- I looked about four foot wide. Admittedly I am carrying a bit of baby weight (7 week old baby in arms).
Scarf would have been better but sold out. Slippers looked good quality as well.

teejwood · 20/03/2012 07:17

congratulations on the new arrival, helium!

i'm hoping one of the t-s will be ok as it's a vertical print in darker colours
the other one with a horizontal pattern might be harder work!

BettyBathroom · 20/03/2012 07:44

The Orlas Kiely print is a bit of a cliche, it the Mum bag of choice around here. It's a bit overdone, imo it has gone in the same direction as Boden prints - predictable and a little dull but that doesn't stop people loving it.

ameliagrey · 20/03/2012 08:27

God i simply don't get this at all!

Why are they such wonderful clothes?
And yes, it's very different from Boden who have lots of plain clothes.

OK has made a small fortune out of her "leaves"- so much so they are ubiquitous- on china, bedding, bags and now clothes. it's not even a nice design IMO.

teejwood · 20/03/2012 08:35

amelia OK's main collection features plain colours too - in fact some really stunning pieces in SS2012, imho.
and even in the uniqlo collection not all of it was stem print!

Levantine · 20/03/2012 10:31

teejwood I was after the tunic shirt thingy, but it was too shirt like for me. I did buy a very nice plain blue jersey tunic and a pale denim one.

I like OK in small doses. I think the stem is a real classic actually

Levantine · 20/03/2012 10:32

The tunics I bought were just normal uniqlo

teejwood · 20/03/2012 10:43

i really wanted the grey stem print scarf but that was one of the ones that sold out before i could check out.

aaanyhow my parcel has arrived

will report back later!

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2012 10:43

I just ordered one of the scarves on eBay - from Japan - £14.90 including postage, which isn't a massive premium on the retail price of £9.90.

The international ones were all cheaper than the ones being sold by UK sellers (they are not caught up in the first day hype/greed, I guess).

If I don't like the scarf when it arrives, well, hey, it can go back on eBay. Grin Fair enough, I think, for one or two items that you have bought then decided against. But isn't it just irritating when people have obviously stripped the shop bare just so they can make a few pounds, at the expense of everyone else?

dexter73 · 20/03/2012 11:44

amelia - they aren't such wonderful clothes, just a cheap range of shirts/t-shirts made in different patterns. If they are not your cup of tea then that is fine but others do like the patterns so they buy them.
Orla Kiely is not ubiquitous where I live. I didn't even know that the leaf pattern was her 'thing' as I haven't ever really seen it before.
Not sure what there is to 'get' about it!

tumbleweedblowing · 20/03/2012 11:48

Does anyone know when the children's clothes are going to be on the website?

daenerysstormborn · 20/03/2012 12:17

i like ok, but tend to go for the less well known prints. there are some nice things usually in her olive & orange range and also the stuff she does for people tree.

bigTillyMint · 20/03/2012 13:06

The stuff I ordered yesterday has arrivedShock

I got a print shirt and a scarf - love them both!

WineOhWhy · 20/03/2012 13:16

I ordered a Uniqlo girl's dress form the website yesterday.

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2012 13:29

Oooh BTM, which print scarf did you get?

bigTillyMint · 20/03/2012 13:33

I'm not sure what it is called, but it is grey background with white leaves and green flowers in a sort of circle pattern!

What print did you get? I only looked at the sale by chance when I saw the email!

teejwood · 20/03/2012 13:41

right, i just tried on my haul

mir was right, the dress is v tenty - but having said that i like the print and could see it as a throw on and go option on a hot muggy day. pondering.

the light green vest top is a much prettier colour in RL and i quite liked it, but it does make norkage look more norked. pondering whether that is a bad thing as it skims over hips, bum and tum .

t-shirts had a lovely scoop neck - i adored the off white with the blue sailing ships, think that is a sure keeper. also liked the khaki with the flower trellis print but unsure whether print also emphasises norkage. pondering wavering towards keeping

love the khaki flower trellis print scarf - keeper

also love the blue print shirt, but it would not button up over norks (same size as everything else). but i love it. pondering if worth keeping to wear over plain vest tops?

have recognised i have pmt and judgement may be impaired so will try it all on again later with a different bra and ask dp his opinion.

teejwood · 20/03/2012 13:42

daenery agree some of the olive and people tree ranges are fab too!

teejwood · 20/03/2012 13:44

tumbleweed the childrenswear went live at the weekend. looks like quite a lot sold out v quickly - nothing left in DCs sizes that i liked and thought was good value when i looked....

daenerysstormborn · 20/03/2012 14:08

mine's just arrived, vest top is browner than it looked (got the small flower print in natural), fabric is a little thin, goes a bit see through when you hold it up to the light, but i like the shape. being slightly a line it's more tunic-y.

the scarf i ordered from ebay is this in navy

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2012 14:59

I went for a multi-coloured leaf-print scarf - this one - I think it will go with pretty much anything!

frankie76 · 20/03/2012 17:25

Yes will keep checking back I think asi think some I saw in a mag wasn't there at all so need to check if they are launching later

CointreauVersial · 26/03/2012 23:14

Update - my lovely scarf arrived from Japan this morning, and it's gorgeous, will go with everything.
