Do plant extracts have an affect on the skin? Clarins is based on plant extracts. is it worth the money? Do their products work.

I know lots of you use the stuff - anyone?

I like Clarins. It is the only mainstream brand skincare that I haven't reacted to, and the products definitely make my skin look better. I'm using Dr Hauschka at the moment as I have mild rosacea which has been getting worse, but if you have skin that is sensitive or dry then I think Clarins is worth the money.

I love Clarins and budget allowing would use it above all other brands. Have been using it for about 15 years and whilst I sm not sure about the science bit all of the products that I have used have agreed with my skin and have showed a noticeable difference to skin tone etc. If I do go to another brand I inevitably return to Clarins. I really like their customer service and have learned a lot from them about how to use the products to maximum effect

I have normal to dry skin and swear by Vital Light Night cream and Hydra Quench cream with SPF. Nothing is better for my skin and I have tried lots! I shop when they have free gift with purchase and usually get 4x30ml travel sizes of moisturisers (that works out to be over 2 full size moisturisers). I also adore their Moisture Rich body lotion but after trying Dove, I cannot justify the expense any more.
Clarins is the only brand my skin never reacted to (I have psoriasis).

I use the shower bits and they are lovely to smell. reckon tis mumbojumbo otherwise

I'm dubious about the theory but use the Super Restorative Night Wear cream (for old bags) as I really like the texture - it's not greasy or sticky like others I've tried. Can't report gob-smacking results but it's hard to tell at my age - it's more a case of damage-limitation than improvement.

I used Clarins products, moisturiser etc and I came out in spots. Not worth it for me. Elemis on the other hand I like, although Boots No 7 is fine for me too, so I tend to save the money.

I use the night oil and it is bloody amazing. If money were no object I'd use a couple more bits, liks the exfoliater/toner thing and the moisturiser. Oh, and I use beauty flash balm too.

IMO NO.

It's over-perfumed and I think they have far too many products all promising miracles.

I have just finished some of their foundation which is nice, but overall i think there are better products- I prefer the Clinique anti-ageing range- about £10-£20 cheaper and no nasty perfume in it.

p.s. you might like to read the info on www.beautypedia.com

plants do not help the skin per se- it's a bit of a marketing trick, TBH.

And Clarins is far from natural- it's very highly perfumed.

it's not a BAD range but i think it's grossly over- hyped for what it promises.

Nothing you can put on your face can get rid of wrinkles- and all dermos agree that as long as you use something that suits your skin, you use sun block daily and don't smoke/drink, that's the best you can do. A moisturiser costing £5 can be just as good as one costing £50.
