What are the best brushes for putting on mineral make up? I use a Baby Buki I got with a Lily Lolo sample but I'm wondering whether to try something else or just get the bigger one from them. Tried BareMinerals brush but I thought it was much harsher than LL.

Bare Minerals brushes are hard, scratchy and shed hairs ime!

MissFoodie · 18/03/2012 11:36

i hate the BM brushes, v scratchy
I bought a royal langnickel flat topped buffer which is good but it sheds a bit....searching for something else too

nbee84 · 18/03/2012 11:38

I've tried a few different brushes and the best one was the cheapest of the lot - a purple kabuki brush from Primark Grin

ggirl · 18/03/2012 13:00

body shop do a small kabuki that's very soft but it has no handle , well a teeny one
I prefer longer handle but the brush part is nice
I still use the BE fuller face one as it gives good coverage but also on the lookout for the ultimate one.
I did see on a youtube tutorial someone recommending one from a co called everyday minerals , and they do a flat topped brush that's meant to be good

ggirl · 18/03/2012 13:03

this is the one that's meant to be fab

cybbo · 18/03/2012 13:26

My bare mins brush broke away from handle very early

I'm starting to feel minerals might not be my saviour as I feel very itchy and dry mid afternoon wh4en I use them

ggirl · 18/03/2012 13:42

do you think you may be reacting to the bismuth?

I tried normal foundation yesterday and was totally unimpressed ..i looked like shit compared to my BE stuff , really aged me.

emsyj · 18/03/2012 13:54

I don't like mineral foundation personally, but for a flat-topped buffer you can't get better than the foundation stippler from makeupgeek - it arrives really quickly and you can use it for liquid founation, mineral foundation and powder. It's super soft and doesn't shed.

cybbo · 18/03/2012 15:56

Dunno what I'm reacting to, but all I know is I look younger and fresher wehn i use my trusty No 7 compact foundation in Blonde

Still use mineral veil and my rose radiance though...havent flown the coop completely!

valiumredhead · 18/03/2012 15:57

Lots of people are itchy after using BM brushes - they are made of goat apparently!

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 18/03/2012 17:48

I got a little BM brush with a sample and it is a bit harsh. I'm using a cheap one from ebay, well I used it today as it's the first time I tried! Not impressed really, I'm using Lily Lolo as I ordered a few samples and although I spent ages buffing I look the same, slightly orange (will try a different shade tomorrow) and the wrinkles under my eyes that I never noticed before are highlighted!

MissFoodie · 18/03/2012 21:01

don't use it under your eyes!

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 18/03/2012 21:05

But thats part of my face, I thought foundation went on the face?

MissFoodie · 18/03/2012 21:14

i never use powder under my eyes, just creases and makes you look 100!
use a cream concealer first under eyes, then mineral foundation everywhere else, then mineral veil.

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 18/03/2012 22:54

Oh gosh so much to learn, cream concealer- another thing to add to my shopping list.

MissFoodie · 18/03/2012 23:18

well, if you've never used under eye concealer before then maybe you don't need it???? you lucky thing!

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 18/03/2012 23:58

Never tried any kind of makeup really, except when I was a teen and layered on the cheapest thing available, and occasionally eyeshadow and mascara when I go out! Never dared try really, learning a lot!

Soory for hijacking op Blush

anniewoo · 19/03/2012 09:44

I hate the little pot mineral foundation comes in so i transferred it into a big tub ( a washed Grin m&s body butter tub)every time i use it there is powder all over the sink!!!

MissFoodie · 19/03/2012 10:19

I use a fortnum & mason ceramic pudding bowl! :)

anniewoo · 19/03/2012 20:49

Really Ms.Foodie?[grin]

MissFoodie · 19/03/2012 22:50

hahaha yes, a small pyrex would be better but don't have one and am not going to buy one for this - I tell you, a 1lb pudding bowl works brilliantly, you can swirl without any getting on the surface!
