Hole in Uggs

WellBlowMe · 14/03/2012 21:09

I bought classic tall uggs from Office in December. I've worn them lots but also looked after them very well, using the proper ugg cleaner and rain/stain repellant.
I've just noticed a little hole at the toe. It's small but goes right through.
I haven't kept receipt or original box.
Anyone have any experience of returns to Office? Or Ugg?
They were paid for on card so have some proof.
I'm so disappointed - I love them and hope these ones are just faulty and I can exchange them for a decent pair.

Hi there

This happened to me but I had had them a lot longer than you. I think I had them a few years and I just binned them because I knew it was from wear and tear.

Have you been cleaning them a lot? I have only cleaned mine once since I got them - maybe you have been over vigorous with the cleaning?

You haven't had them for long so it shouldn't really have happened but if you've worn them a lot/cleaned them a lot then it might be down to wear and tear. It doesn't sound like they are faulty if the hole is in the toe.

I'd take them into Office and explain - they will assess them and they might replace them, but depending on where the hole is, and the fact that you don't have the receipt, you might not get much joy.

I'm saying this as someone who worked in retail for years and has had a lot of experience with returns Smile.

Oh and if you don't get any joy with Office then maybe get in touch with Ugg.

shinecrazydiamond · 15/03/2012 14:48

I would have thought that unless you are scouring them with a brillo pad, they should absolutely not have a hole in them....

Office are notorious for not refunding [ in fact, they won't ] and you'll be hard pushed to get a replacement but worth a call initially to the manager, explain problem and that you have proof of purchase.

If no joy there, then go direct to Ugg.

LitterPicker · 15/03/2012 15:04

The only reason I mentioned about the cleaning is that the brush that you get in the Ugg cleaning kit is made of copper wire, so akin to a Brillo pad!

Have you got a picture of the hole? If it's on a seam then you would stand a good chance of getting a replacement.

If they have a hole after such a short amount of time they are not fit for purpose and or faulty. ( if you havent abused them)

I would be expecting a replacement/ refund. Actually demanding. (Ex retail buyer) i have had a refund from office ( crap sandles)

Have a read of the law regarding refunds and go in quoting it. Small claims court if need be. Its for office to fight with UGG not you.

If it is a hole from a toenail I don't think you'll get much joy.

passthebiccies · 16/03/2012 20:03

I had a problem with a pair of Uggs (the zip broke after only a couple of months) but Ugg will only refund you if you buy directly from their website - so you'll have to battle it out with Office, I think. (I had bought mine from Bank and got my money back with little bother.) Good luck!

Heswall · 16/03/2012 23:21

I had exactly this problem with my UGGS I'd bought from costco, took the back today for a full refund no quibbles.

Freshlettice · 17/03/2012 09:51

Take them back and insist on a refund - they should last much longer than 3 months for the ridiculous price they are. Then buy a pair from Celtic Sheepskin instead, british made and they do repairs. I've had a pair for 5 years, had them resoled once, they have only just developed a small hole and I'm about to semd them off to have a resole and new front pieces. It will cost me £50, but they come back like a pair of new boots.

Freshlettice · 17/03/2012 09:53

If goods are faulty you have a right by law to your money back (sale of goods act).
It's when you return for reasons like you changed your mind that the shop doesn't have to refund you.

Laambkins · 17/03/2012 09:55

Oh no! Mine became really thin there months after I bought mine, didn't become a hole for a few years after. (only cleaned mine onceGrin)

I'd certainly take them back as that's not on after such a short time.
