Best place to buy muslin face cloths online?

I'm sure this has been done before, but I want to order muslin cloths right now and not search through 400 old threads on OCM.

Recommendations?

And also, how do you wash yours? Mine always seem to go grey sooner or later, regardless of how carefully I only put them in with whites.

They are all much of a muchness IME. Apparently the Liz Earl ones are somehow better for cleansing than the baby ones, I'm a bit skeptical about that TBH but maybe worth it for the luxury feel?

How about getting some coloured ones? Plenty on amazon, mainly pastels.
These are lovly and bright but WAY more expensive than the Lize Earl. WTF is that about?

HettyKett · 13/03/2012 20:01

With 'much of a muchness' I mean, for going grey. I demote them to cleaning cloths at a certain point.

willybreeder · 13/03/2012 20:06

I copy Sali Hughes who recommended using facecloths. She also said she buys a 10pack from Ikea so your guaranteed a clean one. Works for me.

otchayaniye · 13/03/2012 20:09

i prefer facecloths as they retain the heat from hot water but curently use muslins i got from ebay (like liz earl but a quid each) as i'm blw andusing flannels or that and can't keep track of my washing

warmandwooly · 13/03/2012 20:09

Not online but I have seen them in homebargains really cheaply.

I think I read somewhere on another forum or whatever that someone would just buy muslin and make their own..

otchayaniye · 13/03/2012 20:11

even cheaper

warmandwooly · 13/03/2012 20:11

I like Eve Lom ones that you can get at Space NK and you'll probably be able to get them at Liz Earle

HettyKett · 13/03/2012 20:12

Mmm, but a face cloth only has two sides. Do you get all the oil off with just one?

I find I need to steam and wipe 3 or 4 times.

Hopefully · 13/03/2012 20:48

I'm actually using flannels atm, but I find that they are quite abrasive on my face (could just be my ancient flannels, of course). Maybe I should go and buy a pack from Ikea.

Hetty I steam and wipe, then rinse under hot water, steam and wipe again, repeats as necessary. Do you use a fresh muslin for every wipe?

Nooo. I don't like washing that much! The DC provide more than enough.

No, I just use one per cleanse. Clean side for each steam and wipe.

Urm, not sure how to explain. I fold it in half and then in half again so I've got a square. Once I've used the first two sides I flip the outside to the inside. So, the fold and flip makes 4 sides IYSWIM.

I have dry sink so use a lot of avocado oil in my mix - it's dark so shows up on the muslin. Was quite a shock the first time I used it! Anyway, there's still enough oil visible on the muslin after the second steam and wipe that I wouldn't dare not do a 3rd. I wouldn't fancy re-using the first or second side either TBH, I probably wouldn't have given it a second though if I hadn't randomly ended up being able to see the fithy oil though...

HettyKett · 13/03/2012 21:10

dry sink Grin dry skin

HettyKett · 13/03/2012 21:11

Oh, should proof read. You get the jist anywat..

CarpeJugulum · 13/03/2012 21:13

I've just hacked up cut up a few leftover muslins from DS (after bleaching and boiling to ensure things are clean) and they seem to be working really well.

I put one larger piece over to start with and then smaller pieces to wipe off any bits that the big one doesn't get when I do a lift off and wipe.

Probably not the way to do it properly, but it works for me, and my skin is starting to glow Smile

Gapants · 13/03/2012 21:18

I cut up my DS old baby muslins that I boil washed, they are used so quite soft. I use EVOO and my skin feels very soft.

KeepingAwayFromTheJoneses · 13/03/2012 21:20

You can get Liz Earle muslins cheap on ebay from their seconds store. I find the baby muslins a bit too abrasive but I expect it depends on your skin type.

HettyKett · 13/03/2012 21:22

Ah, right. I thought they must be more abrasive. Might have a look at those after all then!

QuickLookBusy · 13/03/2012 21:27

I've used Liz Earle ones for years.

They wash really well, last for ages and I have only had a few go grey, when they've been accidently put in with a dark wash.

champagnesupernova · 13/03/2012 21:29

Keeping away - do you have a link?

Also flannels £1 for 5 at lovely old Wilko

Hopefully · 13/03/2012 21:45

Thanks for all the ideas and opinions. Daren't use baby muslins as DS uses them as comfort blankets and can imagine a daily muslin war, but good idea to use big muslins and fold up.
