Help! 1920s fashion for larger lady!

I'm going to a 1920s themed party, but all the websites I've looked at have the flapper style dresses which frankly only look good if you're a stick.

I'm a curvaceous (!) size 18 pear shape (16 on top, 18 for dresses/ bottom) and would look ridiculous in a flapper dress. Anyone got any links to other 1920s styles that might look ok on me?

not sure that you would look ridiculous in a flapper dress but if that doesn't appeal there are lots of blogs/sites on 20s fashion and it's not all tassel dresses that look like petticoats!

day dressing was particularly chaste with skirts/dresses coming to below the knee and tops with long sleeves. Scroll down here to day dresses here to day dresses and further down to evening gowns which were long and could be worn with a stole.

Cloche hat and long beads suit anyone Smile

I think the model looks lovely here though I have no idea why it's a Halloween costume Confused. And not a bad price - otherwise a cloche hat will go somewhere to transform a mid-calf shift dress with long beads and a bob wig into something approaching a 20s style (or a hairband worn round the head with a feather or something similar?)

Or maybe you could go as a 20s gangster and wear some wide trousers/suit and turn some brogue shoes into spats? Machine gun optional......

Thank you for your help. Love the gangster idea although I don't think it's the approach the host is after!

Just not sure about the low waistbands, although some of the evening dresses look feasible!
