Non-gender specific children's shoes- do they exist?

wasn't sure of the best place to put this so do let me know if you think it would get more traffic elsewhere.

DD is 13 months and on the cusp of walking so I'm going to have to fork out for proper shoes at some point soon. At the moment she wears little soft leather slippers I suppose, from Twinkle toes, to stop her slipping on the floor.

Looking at Clarkes and Start-Rite all the girls shoes are pink, red or purple Mary-Jane style with daft names like Tallulah, and the boys shoes are all grey, blue or brown walking shoe style with names like Speedy.

Is there something inbetween? Do yellow or green shoes exist? Does it even matter or should I just grin and bear it until she's old enough to wear a less supportive shoe?

I feel the same OP. Can't stand the gender thing in shoes. girls shoes are always so impractical for toddlers too.

I bought a nice pair of discounted unisex red shoes by a brand called Baby Op (made in spain, v good quality) they seem to have some very nice toddler shoes in plain colours and also brown/ black neutrals. They have some other brands like Umi, Camper, Ciao Bimbi, Superga, kickers, keds which seem to do good unisex options at various price ranges.

Mimi has got some cute Kicker Boots, this is the second pair that she has had. They are hard wearing and she loves them. Although they are quite girly metalic purple they are much more practical than a lot of shoes in the shops at the moment. Additionally I think they are good as she is learning about shoe laces from an early age. It is no wonder children can't tie their laces most shoes in the shops have Velcro straps.

My son had a pair of converse for his first shoes, they are unisex, or depending on how warm it starts being - crocs
