Is it truly awful?
Is a Brazilian all the hair?
Does that include don't think I would want it all gone.

I cannot imagine letting a beauty therapist at that area yet it would be so good not to have to shave.
But also, I am terrified of how sore it might be.

It feels so rude to even ask Blush

I have had bikini line lasered, but could never touch anything else.
Dh has sometimes expressed an interest in it, but he got short shrift.

Esmereldada · 11/03/2012 16:51

Just worked it out that i do at least 300 bikini waxes a year. Verrry conservative estimate. Any good and busy beautician would be the same. We honestly dont give your motives, sex life, shape, size or anything else a second thought. I PROMISE.

Misty - that was a crap and dodgy wax by a useless and inexperienced beautician. Poor you.

twinklingfairy · 11/03/2012 17:07

hubs was talking about someone he knows having it all lasered.
It that sore?
But it will be expensive, right?

That does sound awful Misty

The top half I don't mind, but it really is the between my legs that I want rid of.
Shaving is such a carry on and not even that successful Sad
Tried Veet on my legs once and was not very successful.
How long does it last, if you get it right?
I am sure it said, on the box, not to be used in intimate parts. I figured not between the legs then Hmm

I do bikini wax every 4-5 weeks...I'm going in holidays tomorrow and I have forgot to book an appointment and it was fully booked everywhere. So I did it myself with veet wax strips and it worked !!! I'm quite shuffed about it !

twinklingfairy · 11/03/2012 17:20

OUCH!
I tried them on my legs (admittedly I was pregnant at the time so maybe that affected the out come) But Rubbish, was my reaction.

Chubfuddler · 11/03/2012 17:25

Those that veet, do you er, trim the length first?
Blush

sherocks · 11/03/2012 17:29

The first time I used veet on my legs and it was shit ! I didn't really have high hope but I got a great result ! However, I'm not sure it will be good for first timer ! I have been to a salon for the past 2 years.

I don't trim, I have a big bush in the middle Smile

cupcakefairy · 11/03/2012 17:31

Yes it hurts a LOT more when pregnant, which is why I haven't been for the last few months! (but will have to brave it again for the birth of course Grin) yes the between the legs bit smarts a bit more than the rest but its over so quickly. Totally worth it imo.
It lasts properly (as in could wear a bikini) about 3 wks, but still looking good with just a bit of regrowth for few weeks after that.
Totally get why u wouldn't want to go to a salon where u know the beauticians though!

twinklingfairy · 11/03/2012 17:47

I don't really know any of them, but, I dunno, anonimity can be good sometimes I think.

Just don't ask for a Brazilian in a rural salon circa 2005...

Pseudonymity · 11/03/2012 20:03

Have found an informative and explicit illustrated wikipedia article on bikini waxing. Has pictures of the full caboodle so don't click link if likely to be offended.

twinklingfairy · 11/03/2012 20:35

Would it be weird to want my DH in with me?
That's weird right?

mumofjust1 · 11/03/2012 20:40

I had a Hollywood - it was one of the most painful things I've ever had to endure!

God knows why but they give you teeny tiny panties thar are basically 2 little triangles of paper with thin strings holding them together. I took one look and said they will NOT fit me (being, erm, well, fat and all) but she made me put them on. They covered nothing and were completely pointless considering the treatment I had done Blush

The side bits were fine, getting closer to the fanjo though it was torture! Never ever again!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 11/03/2012 20:45

Sod that for a game of soldiers - how painful and inconvenient and expensive.

Just buy a bottle of veet and whip all the hair off that way. That's what I do when the fancy takes me, and it works wonderfully. Plus it is quite amusing to sit on teh side of the bath and idly pull clumps of pubic hair out

twinklingfairy · 11/03/2012 20:58

Think I am off for a thing of veet tomorrow.
Which is the best?
They come as aerosols and creams, don't they?
How long does it last?

calmafterthestorm · 11/03/2012 21:02

is it safe to put veet down below so to speak ? I thought you were meant to avoid those parts with it Confused

GetOrfMoiiLand · 11/03/2012 21:03

I just slather it on. It is fine and I usually have rather sensitive skin (use the sensitive veet). I use the cream btw. It doesn't sting at all.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 11/03/2012 21:04

Got to be safer than letting some stranger loose with a pot of hot wax and some strips, ripping hair out at the roots. Grin

twinklingfairy · 11/03/2012 21:07

Evenbetter said
Um.. I use Veet in shower cream, on the triangle & tops of legs & outer bits for 10 mins, when it's been on for 5 mins I put it on..er.. on the other bits. Then just get in shower and use the wee sponge that comes with the cream. I just can't bring myself to have a beautician get right in there!!

If she can do it.................

calmafterthestorm · 11/03/2012 21:23

Grin yes getorfmiland that's true - and safer than shaving even I guess? anyone know how long it lasts for normally (veet) before you need to do it again?

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 11/03/2012 21:24

I am a recent brazillian convert, having been a dedicated salon bikini (???!) Grin for about 10 years.

IME, the brazillian is actually LESS painful than regular waxing because it's a different method. The therapist oils up the area and then waxes with hot wax that dries and is then whipped off (ie. no strips). The oil helps the wax to stick to the hair and not the skin and so is much less painful. I dont wear any pants, and generally I am not particularly body confident person (bit overweight) but for some reason baring all in the salon doesn't bother me! Confused

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 11/03/2012 21:25

Bloody iPhone, should have said dedicated salon waxee....

JasperJohns · 11/03/2012 21:34

I am a devotee of the Brazilian. It doesn't hurt and lasts ages.

Can't imagine shaving or using Veet down there - it would start to grow back almost immediately on me and I don't like stubble!

RubyFakeNails · 11/03/2012 22:21

I get a Hollywood, always have done since my first wax. I'm not exactly hairy so a Brazilian on me just looks like someones missed a bit. I really don't think its painful, not in a memorable way, its so quick.

I tried veet once, on a long holiday when I couldn't face trying to explain what I wanted to an Italian salon. It did the job but not to the same standard and didn't last long enough. Anythings better than shaving though.

twinklingfairy · 14/03/2012 17:51

Hmm, bought some veet today.
Not impressed.
Ok I am on stubble now, couple of mm, but it didn't do a thing!
