Here it is here Cant find it on their website but googled and this article shows it fairly well (first dress on slideshow). It is incredible on, flattering and comfy and a great length. And £20. This never happens to me Grin

Meant to say diagonal not vertical above before anyone asks me if I had it on sideways!!!

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 07/03/2012 20:19

viva what was the blazer like? I would need really like one.

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 07/03/2012 20:21

Really nice frock btw

AgentProvocateur · 07/03/2012 20:41

Hmm, messmonster I am also large of nork. If I don't wear a V-neck, I look like I have a shelf. You've put me off it now...

Gillybobs · 07/03/2012 20:45

Thats a shame

FWIW Im a DD and its fine on me although I did have my Holy Grail bra of fabulousness on at the time

I need to know about the Holy Grail bra of fabulousness now Gillybobs Wink I'm a 36E in M&S so probably a 34G in a proper shop! I'm going to try the dress on again with a different bra. I've looked at the picture again and I can't understand how the stripes ended up diagonal on the top half but horizontal on the bottom.

cornsilkidy · 08/03/2012 00:02

none in my local sainsbos tonight

Gillybobs · 08/03/2012 08:26

mess Fantasie smoothing balcony bra here

My friend talked me into trying it about 7 years ago I will never ever buy an M&S bra again. I swear. They make me look half a stone slimmer, smooth lines under clothes etc. I buy them in nude and black. Not so keen on the white version. You can often get them on Ebay (new, obv)

Gillybobs - that's the same bra I wear, it's fantastic. Now my big norks look fabulous underneath clothes...honestly I would never buy another bra. Think it was originally recommended by Gok!

Gillybobs · 08/03/2012 10:16

Links arms with betty . Innit? Amazing bra. I do occasionally buy something lacier/fancier but I know if I want to look my best its the Fantasie all the way.

I bought the dress yesterday but again am not sure about the high neck - will experiment with different bras

London people, Sainsburys at nine elms had quite a few

Gillybobs · 08/03/2012 10:41

I will probably wear a light weight scarf around my neck (as I do most days anyway) to detract from boobage. I like floral scarves with striped clothes so am looking for one in the same colours as the dress

Levantine · 08/03/2012 11:05

Oh I could wear my new pink and blue bird scarf. Come on spring!!

Dillytante · 08/03/2012 11:33

Nice dress. Sainbos does have the odd gem. I have a lovely black wool/cashmere dress from there.

Will check it out. Need to hear more about this blazer though.

messmonster · 08/03/2012 11:40

Wow. Thanks Gilly for the bra recommendation. Looks perfect - I hate bras with seams but seem to have ended up with quite a few. I shall go on the hunt for one of those now. Probably best to try and find a shop so I can try on and find out my size. If you've solved by bra problems I will love you forever!

Have had another look at my Sainsbos dress and checked it against the picture in the OP. Whereas the picture has horizontal stripes all over, the one I have here has diagonal stripes on the top half graduating to horizontal over the drapey bit into the skirt. So, it still doesn't suit me but at least I now know it's the dress and not my norkage massively distorting the stripes!

Gillybobs · 08/03/2012 11:44

How weird mess re the stripes. The dresses in my store all had horizontal stripes at the top. Odd

And yy, def get properly measured for the Fantasie Bra. But dont pay dept store prices for it (£28 I think), £20 on ebay here

Gillybobs thanks for telling me how you will style it? What shoes? :)

Dawndonna · 08/03/2012 21:15

I got gorgeous ballet flats in Sainsburys for a tenner last week, size eight. Chuffed!

Gillybobs · 08/03/2012 22:48

I will wear with navy leggings and these shoes and probably a little navy jersey blazer for now. In summer I will wear with nice tan sandals

AngelsWithSilverWings · 09/03/2012 22:39

I bought this today and mine has vertical stripes on the top and horizontal on the skirt. I thought it was a deliberate design but looking at the OP's link it's obviously been made wrong. Still like it even though I'd usually avoid such a high neckline. Wondering how easy it would be to alter the neckline.

heidipi · 10/03/2012 14:27

Bought one! I like it a lot and love a slash neck so fine with that. Thought the fabric looked a bit clingy so bought a size bigger than I usually would and it's great. Can't remember how the stripes are on mine - it's hanging up upstairs which is much too far away to go and look...

I'll be mainly wearing it with white birkenstocks rather than dressed up but perfect for hols and if we get any sun at home. Only slight concern is that you might see loads of them everywhere and everyone will know I got it at Sainsbo. But who cares, 20 quid!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 10/03/2012 18:37

I have solved the neckline issue for the big busted among us!

I have just spent 5 minutes with a sewing kit that I got from a hotel( I don't do sewing!) and have transformed it into a v neck! The dress is now perfect for me and brilliant for £20.

I got the method from a website called hourglassy.com.

Thanks for posting about this OP. Another reason to love Mumsnet!
