Super duper moisturiser

I need help finding a moisturiser for my face and neck. I have dry skin that makes a rock in a particularly dry desert look wet. My neck had a large, incredibly itchy patch which is so dry that it feels powdery. My face had that horrible cracked/peely look about it, particularly around my nose and eyes. I'm a mess.

Can anyone recommend a bloody good moisturiser, with little or no perfume etc? I get a lot of flare ups due to soaps/makeup etc too so I do have to be careful what I use.

I use Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion. Next to no fragrance. I came across the brand when my DS was prescribed the cream (yikes! that's gone up - used to cost half that!) to deal with his eczema, for which it was absolutely brilliant.

Back then it was just a cream and a bath oil, then Johnson & Johnson bought the brand and expanded it into moisturisers, hand cream and body lotions. I've also used the cream as a moisturiser, it did a good job too.

I like the PureNuff cream but my skin is not particularly dry.

You can read the comments about it and people seem to have found it helps them if they have dry skin issues.

If you are unsure, you can get a sample of the unscented cream for £0.50. (Actually, looking at it more closely, the samples are better value than the full size product...Confused)

I find olay night repair is particularly good when my skin is falling off in chunks. Olive oil is good too, if you are not prone to acne.

I've got dry skin (feels extremely taught after any contact with water etc..) - I use Weleda Skin Food. It's super thick, I love it.

How about rubbing some almond oil in at night, i've been doing this the past couple of nights, even put some on dh who is a builder and has horrible dry skin, he said it made his skin feel nice and asked to use it again.

monkeysmama · 06/03/2012 07:57

I use the Weleda on dd when it's freezing outside & it is very good. The Eve Lom TLC cream is the best I've found for super dry skin.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil is really good for dry skin. It has been very good on my eczema.

I've just started using Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Serum and their DayWear cream. Expensive, but it has had an immediate effect, the dry patches and tight feelings have gone.

I am a convert to Waitrose bottom Butter after seeing recommendations on here.

I use it about 3/4 times a week and the rest of the time I use a straightforward Boots pot of unscented fairly thick cream the other days, my skin looks amazing and it's taken out the worry lines from my forehead:

Wow, thank you everyone! I will have a look into some of these.

My son used to be prescribed aveeno too. It never occurred to me to try it!

If its as dry as it sounds, id be empted to use something the Elizaqbeth Arden 8hr cream, or at least a serum then a moisturiser (Lancome Hydrix/Nutrix if you can get your hands on it is lovely) also, make sure you are exfoliating regularly

LizaTarbucksAuntie · 06/03/2012 09:28

Please, please try the cheaper options first..

i've spent a fortune on products and am as surprised as anyone at what works for me...
