I had dark brown hair (It was supposed to be a semi (casting) but was not coming out) I also had put a red dye (live, permanent) over that. I wanted to lighten it to be able to put a bright red on it, but thought I'd carry a light brown for a while, for the change :)

SO: I posted this..

Colour B4 is a triumph! It's very light A bit brassy mind. I'm slavering over a dark ash blonde, I thought I'd carry a blondish colour for a while before I go red again. But it's great! took all the dye out, my hair is a nice uniform colour, even though the roots were much lighter! It's ace :)

I used nice and easy 103B

It has come out really really dark. It's like number 112.

I don't mind that much, but does anyone know why this might have happened?

Okay - I'm not at all sure but I'm going to suggest that the stripper has made your hair a little more porous and therefore the colour has developed a lot darker? It's 'sunk' into the hair shaft rather than 'coated it???

Is your hair darker naturally? As in medium brown? So the stripper lightened it and the colour took it back to a colour more like your own?

I'm just guessing btw.

I thought most hair dyes came out darker than the box tbh. I recently dyed mine mid-mahogany brown (from light brown) for it to come out a really dark red/brown, that thankfully I suit.

I can only think its because you used a permanent colour with hydrogen peroxide in it? When you have used Colour B4, you should only apply either a 8 wash colour or at the most a 24 wash (semi-permanent) colour that contains no peroxide or ammonia. You have to wait about 4 weeks after Colour B4 to apply a permanent colour.

delta, do you know if the colour I have now would be able to be stripped out in future? I'm a bit excited about this idea of being able to dye my hair dark and it not be a horrendous gyp to get it out to dye it bright again :)

Yes, you can use Colour B4 again, up to 3 times i think! it won't necessarily make you hair in worse condition or in better condition. But i would say that you would need to give your hair a 'rest' and condition it well after with a good intensive conditioner.

When it comes to colouring it again after using the Colour B4, choose a colour a couple of shades lighter than what you want to be, that way it won't be go too dark and remember don't use a permanent colour for at least 4 weeks after CB4. hth :)

Thanks that is useful.

this dye stripping lark is new to me, I used to have to peroxide colour out.

It is much beeter than bleach, still nice and shiny and swishy :)
