Lack of defined waist and jeans in particular.

Hi S+B ladies (and gentlemen).

I enjoy clothing but find it hard to find stuff that fits well- I have a size 10 or 12 waist and hips are virtually the same size as waist. I have a broad-ish back but not a lot of fat on it but still a size 10 or 12. My arms, chest and back are a bit scrawny and I lose weight there first. I'm 5 ft 8.

I like loose drapey jersey tops but they cling to my thin upper arms. Some members of my family have commented that it highlights this area even further. I'm not into blouses on account of ironing.

I also have real issues with jeans. If the waist fits, the bottom is too loose and vice versa. Belts just dig in to show muffin top if I try to make waist smaller.

Ive lost some weight but am still not fitting pre pregnancy clothes and don't think being a size 8 is important anymore as I had to really watch what I ate to maintain that size anyway.

I need some cheap, durable (playing on floor+ rolling about etc) skinny jeans which fit well. In the last two years, what with my size changing so much and buying so much to deal with that, I really have no more than £30 to spend

I find Dorothy Perkins go out of shape very quickly and ditto New look. F + F at tesco go baggy at my knees as well.

Can anyone who also has the waist and hip with no real difference thing going on please advise what they wear jean wise? Is it possible to get jeans under £30?

Any ideas on how to make my chest look less pigeon-y and my arms a bit less skinny? What tops- Im guessing baggy sleeves?

Thanks for your ideas!

Could you try on mens jeans instead as you seem to have a boyish shape and they may fit you better.

oh thanks Dex, yes good idea- loads of mens skinny around too at the mo'.

I have no defined waist and spend a lot of time hoiking at my waistbands so you have my sympathy! I too find 10s tight in the waist but I have no bum to fill a 12.

I bought a pair of high waist skinnys from Next last week. They have 3 buttons and come in navy and bottle green. £26 and I didn't have to pull at them all day, very impressed Smile

What size did you get marriednotdead ? I'm wondering about really good quality jeggings Blush if such a thing exists.

The best jeans I found in years are Levi curve, slight curve and skinny fit. They are 80 though I think - have had mine for about 16 months and worn them to death. Just trying to get a new pair and asos are the cheapest I've found.

I bought size 10 long.

I am similar shape to you, ie slight hips and relatively wide waist. I am also quite skinny and can look a bit lanky as my arms and legs are long and quite thin.
I find H&M jeans fit me well, I have two pairs, Loyal and Star.
Both were around £30 and fit as well as my very pricey 7 for all mankind jeans.
I do have to wear them with a belt to stop them slipping down but I dont pull it tight as they sit below the waist there are no muffin top issues and I find that I can get teh size which fits my hips, if that makes sense?

In terms of tops, I often wear polo necks in this weather with a knitted gilet which breaks up the body a bit.

thanks for your replies- think i will try next and h+m. I have never really though about those places- esp h+m where I'd usually grab some tops and run to tills. More shopping - coool!
