Moisturizing shampoo and/or conditioner?

Hi everyone.

On a recent trip to the hairdressers, the stylist who is also a friend told me both me and DD (2yrs 4months) have very dry scalp. We don't have dandruff or anything but he said the skin is dry and that the best thing for the hair is to actually have a healthy scalp instead of putting masks and stuff on the hair. He said to buy ecological products but the price of the one he used was astronomical!

So went to Holland & Barrett and they have some ecologic stuff there but its like £8 for the shampoo and another £8 for the conditioner. I bought sample sachets though to give it a go. But I was wondering if you know of any good products that are slightly cheaper?

Thanks a lot!!

Have you seen the coconut oil thread on here? I would highly recommend it. Massage into your scalp and leave overnight.

Thanks kaumana I just found it after I wrote the post and read it from start to end! I am going to buy it tomorrow and I am so excited! :)

Do you think I can use it in DD's scalp too?

Absolutely. Put it on before bed time and give her a nice head massage and she'll be off to sleep in no time. You will have to wash the hair in the morning and don't forget to protect the pillow with a towel.

I like the seaweed shampoo and conditioner from Faith in Nature.

They probably have a specific shampoo for dry scalp.

I only wash my hair every three days and don't suffer from this problem though.

Tea tree shampoo

rosemary shampoo

Both seem recommended to improve the scalp condition.

Kione · 05/03/2012 15:47

Thanks RatDesPaquerettes but for that price I could buy the one in Holland & Barrett too.

I didn't get a chance to buy the coconut oil, I'll try tomorrow. Living in a remote place has its cons...

Found a £2 one in Superdrug! Tried on my lips straight away and not too impressed to bw honest, will try it in my hair tomorrow but its so thick I am not sure how I am going to manage...

If it is the £2 small tub it is not pure oil, it is more of your traditional hair treatment i.e. leave on for a couple of minutes.

I can't see the link, it asks me to log on... I saw the one in tesco's but DP thought it was too expensive Angry The superdrug one says its coconut oil, fragrance and another oil, it does say on the instructions to leave it over night, I will give it a go now that I have it...

Kione, I suspect she was linking to the Groovy Food Virgin Coconut Oil 283ml. If you do a search on coconut oil, it will come up. The price is £6.99.

kaumana · 07/03/2012 18:56

Yes that's the one. Great stuff.
