Just found out at a style day that I am a natural ingenue, anyone else with that same personality on here who can hold my hand and help me out?!

sparkout · 03/03/2012 10:29

trepanrr.tripod.com/personal_clothing_styles.htm#ingenue_1
It means I have a girly feminine style but not too full on, sort of a bit girly but with lots natural fabrics etc

Ooh, how interesting! I suspect my mother is a Natural Ingenue, but doubt she would ever do the style day, even though I will hopefully be training as a consultant at some point.

Did you enjoy the day? We're you surprised by what you came out as?

CakeandRoses · 03/03/2012 11:31

Yay - exciting!! I'm a natural ingenue and I know another. Tis a great style type imo Smile

Does it feel like the right diagnosis?

What are you struggling with specifically at the mo? Which slebs were you given as fellow Nat Ings?

And what season are you by the way? I'm a paintbox spring.

sparkout · 03/03/2012 13:20

I really enjoyed the day and was a bit surprised at first as thought I was more a natural or gamine as I am short petite and tend to live in trousers, but as I thought about it I did have this kind of realisation that actually I am girly at heart, the things I have bought in the past (pre children) that I really love are ingenue and that I think they way I was brought up etc made me think girlyness is a negative thing.

I am an autumn leaf for my colours and had them done about two years ago so my wardrobe is pretty much spot on for colour but way way out for style. She actually showed me that I was wearing everything on my hips and buying a size 12/14 when really I needed to emphasise my waist and wear things higher and hey presto I went down a whole dress size!

I am struggling with everything and anything CakeandRoses, I live in skinny jeans and long sleeve tops as I'm a SAHM and have completly lost my way really after 5 plus years of full time mum-ness! I am only 5 ft with short legs and a longer body so its petite but quite fitted things I need not to swamp me. What shops do you find good? I will look out my info later and let you know which Celebs she gave me, I know Delia Smith and Jane Asher were both on there, and Kylie but can't remember any others! Not sure I want to emulate the Delia look!!

i think ingenue is a tough one to 'do' for most of us grown-up, intelligent women - especially if you're a feminist too! i know i was utterly astounded when i was diagnosed as it - twas the one type I was certain i wouldn't be Grin

i now know it's spot-on for me and i've had this side of me dying to come out for years. i'm now completely comfortable with it and have a recipe of 2 parts Ing to 1 part nat which seems to work.

The Nat side makes it easier to wear as it tempers the girly sweetness of the Ing. eg I now wear lace loads but always with jeans for my Nat side.

and yy, our waists are v important! i look much bigger if i don't have waist definition.

i now shop anywhere and everywhere to get stuff that's spot on for style and colour: Dorothy P, Hobbs, ASOS, Cath K, Warehouse, Boden, New Look, even Next which I'd sworn off of pre-style day.

I also love thrifting and have found some real gems for pennies!

sparkout · 03/03/2012 14:44

Ohh CakeandRoses would you share with me some of your recent purchases, or some of the things you have noticed recently? My handout thing suggested Noanoa, Monsoon and other shops I'd never heard of, highstreet shops and highstreet prices would be great!

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 03/03/2012 17:45

oh yy, monsoon is often a treasure trove.

do you wanna join our fb group? might be more useful for you to see pics of how we've styled stuff. There's 16 of us, a range of seasons and style types, all fabulous women, all totally style-obsessed! Most are from MN.

sparkout · 03/03/2012 20:13

Oh please, just don't look closely at my pics as I need serious style help!!

Hi Ladies - I am also a spring natural ingenue and i struggle with finding the right clothes in the right shades - I know this is an old thread but if you're still reading thi,s I'd appreciate some help too?

SeasonofTheWitch · 04/08/2013 17:08

susan I just found this thread by chance when searching for something else!

I am/was CakeandRoses.

You still there?

mayconstance · 09/10/2013 12:10

Hi, Another petite natural ingenue here! I too was convinced I had no ingenue qualities! My 'going out clothes' veer toward ingenue and the rest is pretty much natural. I'm trying to mix the two and struggling a little. I'm a vibrant autumn leaf, love the colours but finding where to shop not easy. Some fab tips from cake and roses. I'd love to get some ideas and poss see some photos. I know it's an old thread so fingers crossed ...

kostadina26 · 17/11/2014 10:21

susanhyde13 · 20/03/2015 11:56

winterwalks · 20/03/2015 23:36

Hi season of the witch
We could be a new category feminist natural injenue
I love the natural injenue look
It makes me feel comfortable, pretty and happy
Does the facebook page still exist
I couldn't find it

susanhyde13 · 21/03/2015 09:00

@Winterwalks what were your colours? I'm a warm spring. I just wondered if there were any shops you prefer for "nat/ing" dressing that you could suggest?

WeeMadArthur · 21/03/2015 09:16

Oh what's the FB group? I'm a dark Summer but a natural ingenue too, I'm really struggling with style, I can't get a lot of the dark colours in the ingenue style, they all seem to come in pastels!

susanhyde13 · 21/03/2015 19:56

@WeeMadArthur - I struggle with style, I might have to save up and go back to my House of Colour Consultant to buy a wardrobe of clothes so I'm wearing what I should... Colours are ok at this time of year (spring) but, like you, I cannot wear pastelsConfused

winterwalks · 21/03/2015 20:05

Susan... I did just that
She had a boden day and I bought 5 key pieces she suggested.
I wore them the whole winter
I need to learn how to do it myself but I do struggle with it.
I'm a jewel winter and a rare winter that doesn't suit black

winterwalks · 21/03/2015 20:17

The HOC stylist suggested
Anthropologiy, monsoon, oasis, cath kitson, kailiko, whistles

susanhyde13 · 21/03/2015 22:46

Thank you for replying... I think I might have to treat myself to a shopping trip Smile

Karbea · 21/03/2015 23:27

Just marking my place. I'm a vibrant autumn, natural ingenue. My hoc lady said think rock chic...
I'm really struggling with both my colours and style diagnoses.
So really interest in tips.

susanhyde13 · 28/03/2015 17:35
