Non-surgical eye bag removal - anyone have any experience??

I have decided I am looking like an old hag, with the main culprit being a pair of rather fetching eye bags.

I don't fancy traditional eye bag removal surgery, not least because it involves a general anaesthetic, but I have seen this and am tempted.

Does anyone know anything about it/have any experience of it?

I haven't but what is your make-up routine? I think my eye bags are horrific but Estee Lauder BB cream then Bobby Brown creamy concealer kit has made a massive difference.

eandz · 02/03/2012 14:22

that looks amazing!

ameliagrey · 02/03/2012 14:32

It can work in the right hands and if you want it done then I'd recommend Dr Tracy Mountford of the Cosmetic Skin Clinic.
I think you have to have the right sort of eye bags if that makes sense! it won't work with every type. Have a look at her website and I am sure there are some before and after pics there.

p.s. Most drs now would not use a GA for eye bag removal- it's done using a local anaesthetic.

I have Fillers for my eye bags. I originally went for botox but at the consultation they suggested that what would make the most difference would be fillers. I have one type in my tear troughs and another type somewhere else. All done under local. The first time I had severe bruising as I foolishly took an aspirin the day before. The second time I went straight to the supermarket from the surgery. I definately look fresher in photos and feel more confident.

mine are horrendous but I would never have anything injected into my face, sorry!

if it's any help I have been testing a concealer and will be posting a series of before and after pics with review?

What concealer do you use?

AgathaFusty · 02/03/2012 17:24

Thanks so much for the replies. I use Touche Eclat concealer under my foundation which covers the darkness but I am still really aware of the bagginess - caught sight of myself in a mirror when I was out shopping just before Christmas and I was shocked at how old I looked. I use haemorrhoid cream on them when I go out, but I'm not actually convinced it helps that much.

I know drinking plenty of fluids helps, and drinking plenty of alcohol definitely doesn't!!

I'll have a look at the BB cream, and it's interesting to know that you can have the surgery under local anaesthetic - all of the sites I have looked at have said they use general for under eye procedures, so it might be worth speaking to them.

Amelia thanks for the site recommendation, have just had a look.

touche eclat is a no no, firstly its not a concealer, its a highlighter, and all it does is draw attention to them. If you have bags, never use anything shimmery or illuminating!

you need a concealer combo, one pink/salmon to cover dark circles and another in whatever your skin tone is (eg yellow or pink undertone) for the bag, esp underneath the bag as it looks worse because of the shadow they cast! Bobbi Brown do a cream corrector and concealer, I would not use powder ever (they are all into it at the moment) as it makes skin look crepey.
Do a Nike Tick with the lighter colour, make up artists trick!

Soap and Glory have brought one out too, otherwise Mally on QVC is highly reccommended by mumsnetters.

Personally I wouldn't use either because of the ingredients, more than the product itself, have been trying loads at the moment to review, so far best one is Jane Iredale Circle Delete but it's not cheap.

AgathaFusty · 03/03/2012 07:23

That's interesting MissFoodie, I'll have a look at those.

TBH the dark circles are not too much of a problem and my foundation alone usually covers them enough, it's the actual bags under my eyes - some days worse than others - that I'm struggling with. I hate that they make me look so tired, and they seem to be affecting my confidence a lot at the moment.

Try haemorrhoid cream, seriously.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 03/03/2012 08:41

Sorry didn't realise you already did, I take that back Blush I love it on my bags!

thenightsky · 03/03/2012 08:46

which sort of pile cream?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 03/03/2012 16:25

I use the beautifully named anusol.

AgathaFusty · 03/03/2012 16:33

Strawberry - I use the very same product Grin

I bloody love it! Honestly I feel like I've had a facelift when I put it on, but I put loads on, do you use much?

AgathaFusty · 03/03/2012 18:31

no, not that much (half a pea sized blob split between the two!). It makes me a bit 'shiny'. Maybe that's why it doesn't work as well for me. How much do you use?

Any other tips on removal eye bags - def non-surgical. Anybody know about draining and if that works??
