It seems I'm the only person who has never used eyelash curlers (am 35), have been told Shu Uemura are the best, any comments before I purchase?
Or are there other brands that are just as good?
Many thanks
:)

and ps my lashes are not particularly long

I love Shu Uemura eyelash curlers they are amazing, but I needed new pads recently and couldn't get any locally so I bought a pair of MAC ones and I think they are brilliant too. I think they were cheaper than Shu Uemura too but not sure.

I am a big fan of eyelash curlers and have tried many over the years. I finally bit the bullet and splashed out on the Shu Uemura ones and I do think they are worth the money. I'm sure there are others that are as good (The Body Shop used to do great ones) but the problem is you end up spending the same amount of money trying to find them and wasting your money on crap ones.

Likeaheadlesschicken - Is it possible just to buy the pads for the Shu Uemura curlers? If so, where from?

MissFoodie · 01/03/2012 16:32

according to SU site you get 1 replacement pad with your curlers, each lasts 3 months, after that you cannot buy pads, so, essentially, you have to buy new curlers every 6 months?

they also state that you should replace the curlers........sounds v expensive to me!

EldonAve · 01/03/2012 16:38

I couldn't see any difference between the SU ones & the body shop ones

MissFoodie · 01/03/2012 16:40

do you mean to the curl you achieved?

OP posts:
notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 01/03/2012 16:48

Yes, that's what I thought about the pads.

The Body Shop don't do them any more EldonAve.

MissFoodie · 01/03/2012 16:54

GOD so, are there any decent ones that you can buy pads for?
or is it a waste of time and should bite the bullet and get SU?
app the reason for replacing the curlers themselves is because over time they move/come loose/whatever engineering reason

Shiseido supposed to be good too, and I think you can get replacement pads for them.

See this blog.

MissFoodie · 01/03/2012 17:18

here are replacement pads for the Shiseido curler. Have read somewhere that they'll fit the Shu one too.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 01/03/2012 17:25

I can get a bit obsessed too Wink

LakeFlyPie · 01/03/2012 19:19

I'm no Style and Beauty guru but am very happy with my £1.50 ELF curlers
Easy to use and a great curl everytime Smile

QueenCadbury · 01/03/2012 19:37

I don't really find them that great compared to whatever I had before although I can't remember what brand that was! Maybe it's just my technique but I find they kink my lashes.

mosschops30 · 01/03/2012 19:46

I bought some for £1 in sainsbury yesterday. First time ive ever used curlers. Actually quite impressed and at £1 who cares if they only last a week, and you get a spare pad Smile

ggirl · 01/03/2012 19:49

I have been toying with buying the SE ones for ages but can never quite do it.

I can't see how they can be much better than others, I mean they look exactly like bog standard ones.

Best thing for me is cheapo ones heated up with hairdryer , but even then my lashes go straight again really quickly.

cocobongo · 01/03/2012 23:40

try heated curlers, they work well for me.

didn't know you were supposed to replace the pads on shu uemura ones- think i have had mine about 2 years! maybe that's why they don't seem much better than normal curlers.

Tangfasticlady · 01/03/2012 23:50

I like tweezerman eyelash curlers. I find they give a better curl compared to the shu uemura curlers and they are half the price. I've tried many different brands over the years and these are definitely my favourite.

MissFoodie · 02/03/2012 10:23

thanks, any specific tweezerman? there seems to be more than one! :)

anniewoo · 02/03/2012 23:40

I have shu uemura- they're fine. I also had a cheap plastic eye lash curler and that was great. Lost it and haven't seen one like it since.it was pink and white.

ggirl · 03/03/2012 11:21

i tried a tweezerman one and it just didn't work on me , no curl at all..chucked them out

MissFoodie · 03/03/2012 13:42

thanks ladies, will continue searching, at the mo between shiseido and shu

lakeflypie god that elf site is bargainous!!!!!!!!!! anyone tried the brushes??
