Can I talk to you about the state of my pores? So, I'm 35, have very oily skin and massive pores. They are mostly visible on my cheeks and nose. I use Elemis Tri Enzyme face wash and a La Roche Posay mattifying moisturiser, so when I first put on my makeup in a morning, my pores look reasonably diminished. However, once I arrive at work and look in the mirror, my makeup looks shiny and my pores are very, very visible. It doesn't seem to matter what makeup I use- powder, cream, cream/gel, tinted moisturiser etc. It just doesn't stay in place for longer than 30 mins and does a terrible job of disguising my pores. Where am i going wrong? I am thinking of buying MAC's prep and prime SPF50 tomorrow- would this be a huge mistake. Please help oh lovely S & B ladies. It is really getting me down Sad

I've found using the mia clarisonic has really reduced the visibility of my pores.

I have visible pores and oily but sensitive skin, which is a bloody bad combination!

The best combo I've found for making makeup 'stick' and disguise pores is firstly, don't use a moisturiser that's too mattifying. Strange as it may sound, if your skin is dehydrated (and it can be, even if it's oily by nature) your pores can be more visible. Try an oil-free but not esp mattifying moisturiser (I use Estee Luaders daywear lotion), then a good oil control primer (for me Estee Lauder's matte base works best).

For extra staying power, a light layer of MACs prep and prime SPF 50 over the top is fab. I do find the MAC makes the difference. You might find that the MAC on it's own (no moisturiser) works fine for you, with primer on top of that.

For makeup, Estee Lauders double wear powder foundation is good, also MAC's blot powder works well and (ime) doesn't go cloggy.

I don't work for EL, honest......
