Hair dying disaster....

Likeaheadlesschicken · 28/02/2012 22:24

I decided to use some hair dye at home today as struggle to get to the hairdressers as have a 4 month old, so it all went well until I washed the dye out and my hair was pink.....

I then decided to dye it again using a light natural blonde colour and now it is mouse/light brown (almost dog poo coloured to be precise!!!)

So what can I do to fix it? Any suggestions gratefully received! My hair is normally quite a bright yellow blonde (due to previous highlights) and I wanted to darken it slightly to more of my natural colour (mid blonde), my hair is also curly and is already very dry so I am frightened to colour it three times in one week. I am 30 later this week (wail) and I need to get it sorted by then!

I think you need to call in the professionals. Go to the hairdressers and hope everyone will help amuse DD.

You could try 'Colour B4' - available from Boots, Superdrug and Wilkinsons and Sainsburys, I think its cheaper in Wilkinsons, usually around the £9 mark. Go for the extra strength one if you do decide to go for it. Its a colour stripper, so basically removes semi and permanent hair dye. It doesn't contain any bleach. Its time consuming, about an hour and a half, but loads cheaper than the hairdressers and at least you can do it at home. You MUST follow the instructions to the letter.

As a back up, i would also purchase at the same time a clairol 8 wash colour in a colour of your choice, as Colour B4 can leave your hair with gingery tones, great if thats what you want, but not if you don't want, in which case go for something like Light Ash Brown, but make sure its only the 8 wash one. Don't go for a too dark shade, it will make your hair darker. You can apply this immediately after the Colour B4, if you need to.

Then use a good intensive conditioner afterwards.

Colour B4 is absolute genius miracle stuff and saved me from months of looking like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=morticia+addams&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1C1CHFX_en-GBGB468GB468&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=6OP2S0ioufzu_M:&imgrefurl=www.fanpop.com/spots/addams-family/images/5599379/title/anjelica-huston-morticia&docid=6hLCiHdFMzZt6M&imgurl=images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/5500000/Anjelica-Huston-as-Morticia-addams-family-5599379-221-390.jpg&w=221&h=390&ei=SSVOT_acIaLS0QXirp2eBQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=677&vpy=130&dur=1243&hovh=298&hovw=169&tx=89&ty=143&sig=118420383790558045689&page=1&tbnh=127&tbnw=79&start=0&ndsp=25&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

Follow it absolutely to the letter.

Lashings of conditioner afterwards.

Live to fight another day.

I'm with Clara, get yourself to the hairdressers.

ClaraDeLaNoche · 29/02/2012 17:11

Well Likeahead what's occuring? What colour are your tresses?

whensteaready · 29/02/2012 17:15

Adee phelan hair colour removed for dark tones will remove semi and permanent colour without damaging hair. You can use it if you want to change your hair colour to a different tone also. Its £14.99

Sorry, another nightmare has eclipsed my hair, my DD banged her head which necessitated a trip to A&E..... I'm booked in with the professionals tomorrow to get my barnet sorted, if I had reread the thread earlier I would have tried colour B4 as this whole hair dyeing saga was all due to my quest to regain my natural hair colour. Will update tomorrow on colour spectrum of said barnet.
