Has anyone used these?

I'm looking for a natural dark brown shade.

Do they cover stubborn grey?

Ive bought a couple of the cheaper makes of these -found them to be easy to use and with minimal drippage. The colour is good and grey is covered.

However they dont hold the colour for long in my experience. The colour fades quickly and so the grey comes back with a vengance.

I would use them if I just wanted a really quick 'tidy up' for an occasion but I wouldnt rely on one for long term coverage.

Boo that doesn't sound great.

Which ones did you use?

I've used the John Freida precision foam colour in a medium brown, which I really liked and the deep conditioner that comes with it is lovely for silky hair. Covered all of my grey, which is quite a lot around my parting and sides of my head.

Hi Truffkin

Does the JF one have any red tones in it?

I've used JF in Dark Blonde. The colour faded really quickly and I wouldn't use it again.

Yes they do a copper colour and a burgundy as regards red tones.

Thing is it's so much more expensive that most other brands and really isn't all that good.

chockbic · 26/02/2012 13:24

Sorry should have made clear not looking for red. Or gold. Just a neutral kind of brown.

Thanks for replies :)

ive used the nice n easy foam and thought it was just the same as normal nice n easy. I don't have any grey to cover but didn't experience any noteable difference in the colour fading. To be honest, I don't think my colour does fade - it just grows out but perhaps that is because I dye it black? I do take pretty good care of my hair though...

Anyway....I think the nice n easy is pretty good and probably easier to use than regular dye

Thanks, I'm eyeing up Sublime Mousse or the Nutrisse foam because of the shades.

Another question.....do these colours have a strong smell?

OP posts:
DaPrincessBride · 26/02/2012 20:14

Big fan of Sublime Mousse here. I use the Delicate Iced Brown and it's a lovely shade. Easy to use, non (nasty) smelly IMO. Lots of compliments!

I do love John Frieda but the colours aren't right for me. Boo.

Covers my greys (don't have that many but dark hair, so they show up beautifully Hmm ) but only for about 6 weeks. I just dye it once every sx weeks!

Gillybobs · 26/02/2012 20:39

Ive tried the Nice n Easy and the John Frieda. FOund them more difficult to distribute than normal dye and thought they faded more quickly too. Def wont be repurchasing either

Seona1973 · 26/02/2012 20:43

I use John Frieda mousse but only when they are half price as they are £10/£11 full price!

chockbic · 27/02/2012 12:40

Appreciate your opinions Thanks

Sorry Choc I've only just seen your question! The golden brown JF is quite a warm colour with red tones, but the natural brown is more ashy.
