Has anyone used colour rewind for dyed hair?

I dyed my hair 'vibrant red' a few weeks ago. I'm really not loving it and want my blonde tresses back!

I found a product in Superdrug which claims to take the dye out and restore hair to its natural colour.

Has anyone used this successfully or otherwise?

Thanks in anticipation.

You need Colour B4 by Scott somebody or other.
It costs about £10 but really works and is kind to your hair. But you must follow the instructions to a T.
you can get this at superdrug....never heard of colour Rewind, but it's probably basically the same type of thing.

I used something years ago that had a very high Vitamin C content (possibly by Daniel Field, not sure)

My hair is dk brown, I'd dyed it black for a couple of years, but kept it very short so minimal colour build up.

It worked well, I think I did it twice.

Excellent, Ithankyou!

Beware, if you used live colour and/or have been anywhere near your hair with straighteners I believe even colour b4 struggles. Have a look at the colour b4 website - faqs I think.

MotherMucca · 25/02/2012 22:52

Thanks, Housework. Straighteners have not been near my curly mop. Fingers crossed!

Yes, I have also heard that colour B4 struggles with Live Colour.
But Scott himself has looked into this and it seems it has something to do with the molecules in the hair after using this product because of silicones.

He advises using lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda to remove silicone build up. Look on the UK Cosmopolitan site, it's on there somewhere.

Cheers everyone, I knew you'd know Wink

I used colour before and was quite pleased with the result. I dyed my hair red for a long time and it took the colour out but left my hair lighter than it was originally so that I had roots showing when my hair grew. Did not affect the condition though, I was worried my hair would end up like straw.

cheesesarnie · 01/03/2012 21:10

op-reddish brown before now almost black.i go through times of liking the black and hating it!

StellaAndFries · 02/03/2012 10:20

Head and shoulders anti dandruff shampoo strips colour from the hair too.

deltawab · 02/03/2012 10:36

There is this too

I suppose you could try this before using Colour B4 to see if this works.

Thanks all who posted. I've now decided to be Rita Fairclough and keep the red until it grows out.

I used colour B4 on live colour red passion. It came out fine.

I also had a darker brown semi permanent on there too, and whatever residue of 8 million colours.

It got it out very light, admittedly brassy, but a uniform colour.

My mistake was using a permanent blonde colour to tone down the brass, it must be semi permanent. It came out much darker than the advertised colour.

Luckily I like it :)

oh and another thing, although my hair is in good condition (it's not as it was, a bit dryer, but not destroyed like it gets with peroxide) my scalp seems a bit sore when I brush my hair. Hmm

I dyed my hair bright pink (I was on cold medication at the time) from light blonde and really didn't like it. I used colour rewind and it was amazing. Much better than I thought. It smelt bad and had to stay in for 60 mins but it washed the colour right out. The smell remained for another wash which wasnt great but I wash my hair daily so wasn't too much of a problem. My hair was also a bit dry afterward but I used some 3minute miracle which seems to have sorted it. I think a lot of people forget that when they dye their hair bright red that the colours often have ammonia or peroxide, so when you remove the colour, your hair won't be the same as it was before (it will be lighter and drier). Mine was, as it was already light blonde so i was very happy.
