Can You Help Me?

Hi,

I am doing a bit of research and would love to have your opinions. I run my own business and want to offer help and support to mums.

In order to make sure that I offer the right kind of service that mums need, I would love to know if you would use a service that were designed to help mums, unhappy with their post-baby body, to start loving the body they have now, feel great in their clothes and become the beautiful woman they want to be.

I'm considering offering something via email [as mums are always busy!] as well as face-to-face for those who can find the time.

Any input would be gratefully received! Thank you :)

Hi Dee - Do you mean your business would offer style advice to women who had recently given birth and struggling to get used to an altered body shape?

If so, I think it might work, but I think you'd need to be careful how you pitched it. I have to be honest and say I don't think I would have used it. When I was at that stage I was focused on returning to my pre-pregnancy shape. I wouldn't have bought new clothes - I just wore my maternity clothes (adaptable jersey stuff from Isabella Oliver etc) until I lost the weight. I think I might have feared that if I was investing time and money in my post-pregnancy body it might have felt defeatist.

That's just me, though - others might feel differently.

Thanks for your response KandyBarr,

It would incorporate helping them with their clothes so they had a better understanding of what to wear etc... yes

That's a good point you made, athough even when some women's bodies go back to their pre-body shape, there are still some things they may be unhappy with. For example, i'm slimmer now than before I had my children but I have stretch marks and my breasts are no longer the way they used to be. I hated those changes in my body for a very long time after childbirth. That's no onger the case, but I believe a lot of women feel the same.

So as well as style, my intention was to help them feel good about themselves no matter what changes have occured. I certainy wouldn't want them to think they couldn't return to their pre-pregnancy shape. The sad fact is, however, a lot of women don't achieve that.

All I want to do is help them feel good.
