2 hour meeting with new managers then dinner... after a 3 hour flight, what do I wear!

Help!

Will be flying there and back on the same day, need something business like but dressy enough for early evening dinner and drinks and will fit into a large handbag as I won't have anywhere to keep stuff...

Stats - size 14, hour glass, crap legs but good waist and bum/boobs, reddish brown bob and mid 30's. No budget as such but prob not over £250!

You need an LKB Davina - fab dress, amazing on an hourglass and both businesslike and dressy!

WipsGlitter · 23/02/2012 21:49

I'd go for a dress, maybe a wrap dress in jersey (no creasing) and a jacket. I wouldn't bring a change but certainly enough make-up to re-do your make up and a hair brush / tooth brush.

WipsGlitter · 23/02/2012 21:51

Oh amber that dress is gorge, but do you think the pleats would hide creasing?

CMOTDibbler · 23/02/2012 22:02

Slim dresses like that don't fare well in a long day of flights (bitter voice of experience). You want a wrap dress in a dark, heavy, jersey as that will still look pristine after a long day.

Don't worry about dinner - its a business meal, not a dressy occasion. Just take makeup (remember all liquids/gels have to fit in your little plastic bag) and a hairbrush.

HurricaneBawbag · 23/02/2012 22:04

I do like that and have a few similar, but they are tweed texture and look too much like officey stuff.

What colour would you go for? I quite like navy, goes with everything. But again that might not be dressy enough? Also I need to take pumps in a bag as don't think I'd manage heels all day...

Totally forgot about little bottles too! Need more help than I realised Blush

It's a really weighty fabric so I'd imagine it would travel well. I think the navy would be very versatile, but I love the bright red too. Wrap dresses are lovely, but not always that flattering on those of us with an ample bosom - I find myself constantly rearranging to avoid flashing my bra as I think a best ruins the look!

CMOTDibbler · 23/02/2012 22:23

Navy would be fine. In fact tweedy would be fine too unless this is primarily an evening event and not a meeting with dinner after iyswim.

If you get a pair of those foldy pumps designed to go in your handbag, then you can carry your heels until you are in the taxi to the meeting, then take them off in the taxi on the way back. A black nylon bag is your friend here as it will fold to nothing and stash in your handbag when you are wearing the heels.

If your usual foundation is in a bottle too big to fly with, then you can try and blag a sample from the scary ladies. Or buy the little pots from Boots and decant. Everything else fits into the bag nicely.

Can you tell I do this a lot ?

HurricaneBawbag · 23/02/2012 22:23

Do you have one of this Amber? They look different lengths depending on colour is that right?

HurricaneBawbag · 23/02/2012 22:24

Thanks cmot. Can you tell I don't? Grin

I have a purple which hits just below my knees (5'4). Tried on the pink too which was the same length I think.

crystalglasses · 23/02/2012 22:46

You have to be careful with taking liquids through airport check in

ifancyashandy · 23/02/2012 23:04

Mentally scanning my work wardrobe & have come up with a different outfit:

Smart black straight legged trousers.
Silky collarless blouse (mine would be leopard print which would be fine in my field but appreciate that's but the same for all).
Black, shaped Tux jacket.
Black heels (with flats in bag for return journey!)

Jacket off for dinner & silky fabric should have minimised creasing.

Small deodorant, face wipes, moisturiser, toothbrush & paste, brush, make up etc in bag. And perfume.

HurricaneBawbag · 23/02/2012 23:22

Does this look like it would crease? www.next.co.uk/search/search?w=Crepe+cowl&asug=&filter=

HurricaneBawbag · 23/02/2012 23:25

Thanks shandy, I have some stuff like that too, though not the silky shirt (try and not emphasis my boobs at work, they seem to look smaller in structured tops and dresses)

LaVitaBellissima · 23/02/2012 23:28

over budget but nice!

LaVitaBellissima · 23/02/2012 23:30

similar just in budget

Just have some extra accessories in you bag, to add for dinner, and a little extra makeup Smile

HurricaneBawbag · 23/02/2012 23:34

Bargain bellisima, Def could not stretch to original price for workwear eek!

ifancyashandy · 24/02/2012 00:38

No worries! Am often in a similar situation & the other product I would take is eyedrops. That, along with brushing hair & teeth and fresh deodorant, makes an instant difference.

CMOTDibbler · 24/02/2012 09:07

It that Next dress is the material they normally refer to as crepe, then it doesn't crease very much at all
