my first pair started to lose their shape after a couple of washes faded quite a bit and went quite stiff, i should have got a size smaller, now i've lost more weight i have a new pair but i'm terrified to wash them. i think i turned them inside out and washed them with bio powder and softner on 40 degree, didn't tumble dry.

Mine didn't wash well and quickly lost their shape and it wasn't because there was less of meEnvy well done though!

I always turned them inside out and washed with non bio on a cool wash. For the price i would expect them to have worn better

Inside out, persil, 40 degrees, quick wash, no fabric softener and tumble dry. They seem to keep their shape well.

Inside out, 30 or 40 degrees, no fabric softener or tumble dry. They've kept their shape- first pair of jeans I ever bought that I can say I'm very happy with. Mine are demi curve in navy.

Inside out, 40deg. They are navy skinnies with a high elastane content. They went bobbly on the inside on the first wash, but outside, shape and colour all fine. I'd be gutted if they weren't a) because of the price and b) they are the best fitting jeans I have ever owned.

mousymouseafraidofdogs · 20/02/2012 13:41

inside out, colour powder (only about a third of what it says on the pack), 30 degrees, long cycle, no tumble, no fabric softener (makes the elastic brittle)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/02/2012 13:41

Oh, and no fabric softener and no tumble drying.

perhaps using softner is where i'm going wrong. thanks

Washing jeans: there's a whole sub-culture dedicated to that! Most say you should wash jeans as little as possible. See this guy for true obsession.

Can't be arsed with that and sounds quite whiffy! Tend to wash mine at 30 using a delicate detergent (to avoid bleaching the colour out) and dry naturally.

i was passing the levis store today so went in and asked, they said to leave as long as possible before the first wash (not sure why) to wash inside out at 30, and use a small amount of liquid not powder(but didn't say why), i asked whether bio or non bio and he said it didn't matter. don't tumble dry either, he said to try and not wash clothes too often or try and spot clean as it damages the fibre by washing, i have to say i am guilty of chucking items in the wash after a day which could be worn another day, i remember arguing with my mum about this as a teenager.
