How much water do you drink, and when did you start?

I know I should drink more water, but I just don't like it! It's up there with knowing I should tidy the spare room. Has anyone else made a concerted effort to start drinking more water, how long have you been doing so, and what changes have you noticed? Does it make any difference to your skin / hair etc?

I started in my early 20s at uni - am now 35. Used to religiously drink 1.5l per day but now more like 1l but I do drink other fluids too...
Changes I notice?? I pee a lot!!! Seriously, I think I do feel more alert and less lethargic though I'm sceptical about any real beauty benefits. It seems to have little impact on my eye wrinkles!!

I used to drink 4 litres religiously and my skin was clear and plump. Following the birth of DD, I drink less and my skin has become really sallow. This week, I have made a concerted effort and my skin is looking sparkly again. I really believe it makes a difference!

Well I have kicked my diet coke habit and since then (a month ago) now drink 2 litres of water a day - tis sparkling though. I love san pellegrino.

DH tells me I look younger but who knows.

2l minimum (but I live in a hot climate)

I always drink at least 1.5l whatever the climate and if I don't I notice I have less energy and look sort of sunken.

Sorry, there's zero scientific evidence that drinking lots of water has any effect on skin/hair etc.

If you want to do your teeth a favour, water is your friend however.

Of course, water has no calories or sugar or additives or caffeine, so substituting water for coffee, tea, juice etc may make you feel better because you aren't getting those peaks and troughs. It's certainly cheaper!

I took part in a medical thingy re water a few years ago. I initially found it hard going it seemed a lot I think it was 2.5 litres. But everyone even my highly critical mother noticed and I definitely did look and feel better. I re do it every so often but always let it slide and then look worse

Sounds like it'd be worth a go then, but rather than litres I'll just aim for one glass a day to start with!

I did make a NY resolution last year to drink more water, so put my 1000+ daily toilet visits down to that. Took me ages to figure out I was actually pregnant :)

But anyway, it's got to be worth a try, as I do have patches of dry skin on my face, and I'd rather they weren't there. Thanks for your replies!
