Glasses, DH/DD reactions; new styles & have I stuffed up?

I have new glasses, they cost a small fortune (complicated prescription & varifocals)

DD said "They are very big"
DH said "They are very big"

They aren't but they aren't the lettrbox ones that have been in so many years

What Styles are becoming fashionable atm?

No you haven't stuffed up, I'm sure they are fine, your family will get used to them!

KatyMac · 18/02/2012 13:21

I know

They are philistines

I agree with Belgo - your family will get used to them! New glasses always really change a person's look, I'm a bit freaked out when DH gets new ones as I get a bit of a shock whenever I see him in them, but I quickly adjust, even when they're quite a different style.

As long as they're not huge Deidre Barlow specs, I'm sure they look great :)

KatyMac · 18/02/2012 13:27

They are a Chloe pair and they are much rounder than I normally have - but I don't think they are too eighties

They sound very nice.

mjawch · 18/02/2012 14:46

geek chic is still in! BIG time, so dnt worry xxx

KatyMac · 18/02/2012 15:48

I don't feel very reassured "geek chic"

That doesn't sound like me

Petrean · 18/02/2012 15:59

They'll get used to them... Glasses really change the face so you probably just look very different in then. Do you like them?

KatyMac · 18/02/2012 16:00

I do, & my mum loves them.....I'm out tonight so we will see how it goes

I am nervous

They really suit me btw

You know someone's going to link to a photo of Deidre Rashid, don't you? Grin T

KatyMac · 18/02/2012 17:33

I've had to take them off as I have a headache

DD & DH are happy now Sad

OP posts:
belgo · 18/02/2012 17:34

Sad hope they aren't causing the headache?

KatyMac · 18/02/2012 17:38

Me too first ever pair of varifocals

ggirl · 18/02/2012 17:40

tbh those letter box ones that absolutely everyone is wearing don't suit everyone at all

Oh dear Sad

When my Dad first got varifocals it took him ages to get used to them. He kept looking through the wrong it and moving his whole head and not just his eyes.

KatyMac · 19/02/2012 19:53

I wore them most of today, so we will see how it goes

OP posts:
Size6feet · 19/02/2012 20:13

I've just ordered new glasses and frames and they said if I decide I dont like them I can swap them.

They are also varifocals and I have a stigmatism too.

Varifocals are great and you soon get used to moving just your eyes. Its so much better than constantly taking them on and off as I did with single lenses.

SherlockHolmes · 19/02/2012 20:49

Can you link to a pic of them - or of you in them so we can all criticise admire them?

KatyMac · 19/02/2012 20:54
