Want to be comfy but look nice in all the pics! Have been warned it may be wet so not sure what to bring to put on my feet? We're going for 10 nights, so if anyone's got ideas for a capsule wardrobe I'd be grateful.

We flew into Orlando April 7th 4yrs ago, it was 90 degrees. I took summer clothes and sandals.

GladysLeap · 14/02/2012 20:09

We've been at Easter a few times. Shorts & T shirts and sandals.

When it rains it is still warm and soon dries.

suebfg · 14/02/2012 20:17

A short lightweight mac for the occasional shower and splash from water rides. Boden have a great one with a hood but it looks as if there is only one colourway at the moment.

Really comfy shoes as you will do LOTS of walking - I took Clarks shoes and trainers.

We went late Feb/early March and mornings/nights can be cool. Take a couple of cardigans. Also, don't buy too much before you go as you can easily buy cheap T-shirts/shorts over there - lots of outlets.

ValEdictory · 14/02/2012 20:20

How about comfortable sporty-type sandals that are designed to dry out after they get wet? Or boat shoes that do the same. Do Converse dry out quickly, or go smelly?

Suggest you take those thin, plastic poncho macs in case you get caught in a downpour. You can get them for £1 in bargain shops sometimes.

Just lots of cotton T shirts and cotton shorts, with a light sweater/hoodie type thing for coping with the air-con in restaurants.

Sunhat/baseball cap/sunshade to avoid heatstroke. Sunglasses and sunscreen (can you tell my dh got heatstroke when we were there last Easter? Ended up in hospital!!!!)

Have a great time Smile

We went at easter a couple of years ago and some days it was schorcio and other days it was bllomin freezing! We also had a couple of very wet windy days when we were under a tornado warning. Also if you are planning on going shopping at the mall's keep a very tight grip of your bag / wallet. My wallet got stolen and the buggers spent thousands on it - we were covered luckily but being on holiday when you've had to cancel all your cards is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!

Pharoahnuff · 14/02/2012 21:10

Yup. We went at Xmas and I wore layers and layers. Cold!

Pharoahnuff · 14/02/2012 21:11

Also think the peep who go n about walking must be lazy fuckers. N more walking than a days shopping in London.
Just wear Norma
Shoes

suebfg · 14/02/2012 21:29

That's total rubbish - you are on your feet every day all day - normal shoes will not suffice.

ValEdictory · 14/02/2012 22:49

Aftter our time in Orlando I had walked so much I came home with plantar faciatis - sore feet - that has last nearly a year.

Pharoahnuff · 15/02/2012 11:58

You must be idle sods. Did all of it two weeks. Normal shoes. Feet fine

Labootin · 15/02/2012 12:01

Well if you will walk about in yer crocs pharaoh you're bound to be comfy

BrigitBigKnickers · 15/02/2012 12:12

We have been to Orlando twice at Easter- it was very hot both times (At least 28 degrees-sometimes warmer.)

Don't think it rained either of the times we went. We wore shorts and t shirts with sturdy trainers.

CiderwithBuda · 15/02/2012 12:32

Been twice - once Easter and once july. I wore birkenstocks on feet. I would just say make sure your shoes are comfy and not new. I did wear a new pair of birkies one day and ended up with blisters.

Clothes wise I don't do shorts but just wore cropped trousers and t-shirts or tops.

silverbay · 15/02/2012 12:37

sorry, ladies, but crocs are the King of Shoes for Disney.

first time i ever hears of them was on the dis boards, long before they were in the UK. They are perfect for it.

OP, i guess you know about disboards, dibb, unofficial guide?

clippityclop · 15/02/2012 15:27

Wow, thanks for such a brilliant response! Don't do crocs, so shall take the Clarks sandals which were great last year, last year's Next cotton flowery pumps and some comfy ballet flats. Have cream and navy linen shorts, nice tops and cardis and a lightweight not to flappy parka thing (mainly Monsoon, Boden) scarves so shouldn't let the side down Will get Dds kitted out with new trainers/sandals this weekend to give breaking in time and get hats while we're there...Never heard of disboards Silver, so will check out right away. Thank you all! Thanks

We went end of March last year. It was hot all the time but it rained a lot. I had to buy disney flipflops for dd and myself because leather sandals are so horrible to wear in a downpour, so I recommend you take some nice flipflops, which you could even carry around in your bag. I think if your kids are young enough to look sweet in them, crocs are actually the ideal shoe here.

MordechaiVanunu · 15/02/2012 15:42

Oh my goodness, you're going to Disney and you've not been on the disboards?? Your time will now disappear into a pit of glittery planning (if your like me with holidays).

Most people in the parks are wearing shorts, vest tops, bum bags, and mouse ears, with very little style around.

Shorts and vest tops not my thing so I usually wore a sun dress and carried 4 pack away macs in the bag.

If I were shopping for a whole day I'd wear comfy shoes. Normal, but comfy. Same for theme parks. I had clarks sandals and fit flops.

sue52 · 15/02/2012 15:44

We've been over in April and wore lightweight clothing with cardigans to protect us from the air con. Shoes should be comfy rather than stylish, theme parks are hard on the feet. It did rain but a refreshing warm kind of rain.

dixiechick1975 · 15/02/2012 15:53

Have a look on thedibb.co.uk aswell (Say Hi if you see me i'm dixonsontour on there and the DIS Grin

There is a section for trip reports - if you look at a few easter ones you can see the types of outfits needed.

Polgara2 · 15/02/2012 16:15

Yes we went at Easter and whilst it was very hot most of the time, we found that we needed cardigans or something for the air conditioned restaurants!

I took very light sandals and trainers and just alternated.

I echo the need for the DIS boards and DIBB - you must go look - you will have a fab time on there! (Be careful though I became a leeetle obsessed Grin)

clippityclop · 15/02/2012 16:40

Oh Mordech and Dixie, to be honest, today anyway, I just want someone to do the planning for us! At least I'm confident now about having got the clothes thing sorted! Not self at mo, PMT, antibiotics for roaring sinus infection and awaiting DH's test results for something serious. DDs (10&7) have wanted to go since Disney Paris. It's just coming up so quickly and we really want to make the most of it!! We're staying on International Drive, 4*, five mins from Universal, 20mins Disney, not hiring a car. Not fans of serious roller coaster type rides, anticipate we'll split time between Magic Kingdom, the Harry Potter thing, and like the idea of Epcot. Hotel has pools so plan to have a couple of easy days there, mooching about IDrive as girls get tired easily in the heat. Usually do European city holidays, cruises so used to 'busy' but fear this may be in a different league. Going off original topic, any suggestions about park tickets? Advance or while we're there?

'You must be idle sods'

Quite the reverse - maybe you didn't do that much walking, hence why your feet were fine :)

alemci · 15/02/2012 17:30

comfy shoes or sandals. sometimes these may rub though so socks and plimsols maybe. you walk miles. It is exhausting but fun.

take snacks in your backpack to keep you going.

Shorts, t shirt, hat, sunglasses. I wouldn't wear a vest top as I burn easily. don't normally have a cardi but always a brolly or kagoule type thing.

if you can buy in advance you may save some money and we picked some tickets up at a kiosk. saved some money on a show. beware timeshare cons though.

when I went in 1991 you could buy really good tickets in the hotels but this has long gone.

Acekicker · 15/02/2012 18:58

I don't do Crocs either but I got [[http://www.crocs.co.uk/crocs-patricia-iv/11661,en_GB,pd.html?cid=15G&cgid=women-new these] (or rather the previous version they had 2 years ago). They were the best sandals ever, every couple of days I swapped and had a day of crocs flipflops and I was the only one out of our party of 7 who never got blisters or just 'tired' feet in 4 weeks there
