Water change affecting my hair

frankie76 · 12/02/2012 22:01

So I have just moved from London to Manchester and the water must be different

I have wavy/curly hair and now up here it doesn't form proper curls and is more frizzy
Haven't changed any products
Use any old shampoo and it's always been fine (and yes tried without silicone ones before someone suggests that but still no luck)
And use aveda be curly

I have always had easy hair and now horrid :-(.
Any suggestions please help me

I find change of water really affects my hair. My parents have a water softener and it is a nightmare as can never get shampoo out. Check whether your water is hard or soft. If it is soft you need a tiny 5p size of shampoo. Do you think that. Aye the problem?

you think that may be the problem?

I think it must be the issue - not sure if Manchester has hard or soft water - will try and find out

Manchester has soft water ( said in my special Liam Gallagher voice ) - as an exile currently living darn sarf I find the hard water there much more difficult to deal with. As someone else has said, use less shampoo and it should help. The air is also famously humid ( one of the reasons the cotton trade flourished ) so that might be making you a bit frizzier too.

I have had this problem before. I used to live in Edinburgh and had lovely soft shiny hair. Then when living back in England I found my hair became a frizzy mess :S The solution that worked for me - use a good anti frizz serum or cream (I like Body Shop brazil nut one) on towel dried hair, then blowdry on a high heat with a non frizz hairdrier.

Thanks - will try less shampoo and more product
I'm actually fine when I straighten it but curly which is how I like it most days looks horrid
