Bare Minerals foundation for very pale skin?

salamanda · 12/02/2012 20:15

I'd really like to try mineral foundation but I am vv pale, almost no foundations are light enough for me. If their palest shade isn't pale enough, are there any similar products that would work for me?

I do know that my skin is so much better since I started using BE

Med Beige is neutral AFAIK so suits cool or warm tones.

I'm a Candy Cane in LL

Noddy:
Some LL concessions are about but none near me. I just ordered 3 samples £1.29 ea plus £1.99 p&p, found my colour then ordered bit pot off of FeelUnique as its free p&p.
Yes brush separately - I use a Body Shop Mineral one as it was on offer and it's great.

gg:

The simplest way is to take off all your makeup then put a silver item under your face, then compare it to a gold item under your face.
If silver looks best and doesn't wash you out, you're cool
If gold "" "" and doesn't look brassy, you're warm

Thanks I think I will get some samples

ggirl · 13/02/2012 17:26

thanks pinot..will try that

the fact i suit grey maybe suggests I am cool toned?

bettydoc · 13/02/2012 20:16

I'm using Fairly Light BM at the moment and I THINK it's ok colour-wise but I'm not sure. I've tried LL Barely Buff, Candy Cane and Popsicle and none of those have been disastrous either. I also recently tried Rimmel Wake Me Up in Soft Beige (200) and it was an ok match too. I have dark hair and the type of skin that will "pinken" before it tans. Does it sound as if I'm in the right ball park when choosing a foundation? I find it very confusing.

noddyholder · 13/02/2012 20:20

Can someone recommend a brush

Pinot · 13/02/2012 20:22

gg, yep that would mean you're cool toned.
There are seemingly a zillion ways but the silver or gold material trick is the easiest.

Pinot · 13/02/2012 20:24

noddy this is mine is superb, far better than the rougher BE ones.

noddyholder · 13/02/2012 20:24

Thanks xx

I'm also too pale for foundation but decided to ask the orange lady in the dept store for help - turned out she was even paler than me (oh, that scottish winter skin!) and sold me a product that is barely noticeable and makes me look pulled together at 8am!

I [heart] Mumsnet!

Salamanda, I just realised that I should have offered you my samples, which I'm not using. I see you've got some ordered, but if you fancy trying Porcelain and Blondie, just let me know and I'll stick them in the post for you.

salamanda · 14/02/2012 11:31

Oh Devora that's so kind of you! I will get in touch if the samples I've ordered aren't right. I am interested to see how pale Porcelain is - LL say it's the palest foundation on the market (which can't be true as Illamasqua do one that is white). I am almost totally white, but not quite, so am thinking China Doll will work for me.

Everydayminerals.com has a ton of pale shades, and they seem well-reviewed on MakeUpAlley and the like. You have to order from the US, but you can get samples for about £2 for seven.

I'm very pale - Mac don't match my skin - and I seem to be China Doll in LL.
