Help with hair disaster please

My hair for years has been long and mousey brown with blonde highlights, suited me, anyway 2 weeks after having DD last year decided to dye it dark, hated it immediately but lived with it for quite a while (did try colour b4 but it reoxidised in a few days and went dark again). Anyway due back at work in a few weeks and wanting to look decent again decided to take the plunge and have colour correction done at a reputable salon to take me back to 'normal'.
So after 5 hours and a lot of money later it kind of looked ok (the colour technician didnt actually come back to check it properly, she got someone else to wash dye off and blow dry it and was highlighting someone else as I left).
Anyway I got home and DH pointed out my hair is different shades of orange, in natural daylight it really doesn't look right. I am devastated and have made another appointment for Thurs but does anyone have any ideas as to what they can do, I am scared of having to pay out another fortune and really damaging my hair, am almost tempted just to live with it and maybe go for a bob but dont want to look awful for months. Can this be fixed? Any advice?

I think I would go back to the hairdresser and ask for manager and get them to correct it for free!

They can't blame your previous colour for problem as if they know their stuff they shouldn't have taken the job on in first place if it was going to affect the result.

Definitely a foot stamping moment (use charm first though)

good luck

They will (should) correct for free.
When trying to lift dark colour out it's a bit hit and mix and no one can ever tell what it will lift like.
They will be able to put a toner on to kill the orange tones, toners don't damage your hair they don't have to be on long and are mixed with low peroxide Smile

Thanks, I am so unassertive I am considering just leaving it but dont see why I should as it was a lot of money. The thing is I had read up and knew they might not get me as light as I wanted but she said it would be no problem. I would have gone for a bit of a darker colour if she had warned me this could happen. She was very distracted through whole process in a busy salon and I do feel maybe didnt give it enough attention..

A tonor or vegetable dye will fix it. Call ahead and speak to the manager so she ia aware of the problem - you could always get DH or a close friend to call if you don't feel confident enough. That way the manager should be able to arrange for you to have the best person and the red carpet treatment (I would be angling for free hair treatments, product...all sorts really but that's because I'm used to handling these people). Stay calm but be firm and clear about what you want and you should get it (I get free dinners, free haircuts, free delivery, extra discounts - all through being nice but firm Wink)

I did the exact same thing in a moment of madness dyed my blond hair red. I wanted Chestnut but ended up Plum. It did not suit me and I was extremely annoyed at the hairdresser who tried to make out it was my fault! Honestly how could it possibly have been my fault, did I sit in the chair incorrectly! I spoke to the Manager, who tied to sort it out but it was a disaster really. I was told to wait before dying it again. I was persuaded by another hairdresser to go dark to get rid of the red. Hated it. I then swore off hairdressers and lived with it untill I could stand it no more. I really looked around this time spoke to lots of hairdressers and eventually found a fantastic hairdresser who tranformed my hair back to blonde. This hairdresser really listened to what I wanted and told me the pay off for lightening my processed hair. In total it took 6 months to get back to my blond shade and my hair suffered from the processing.

My advice to you would be to go back to the Salon and speak to the Manager. Insist that another hairdresser preferably the Manager/ Senior Stylist puts your hair right. Do not be persuaded to give the original hairdresser the opportunity to put it right, she had her opportunity and showed little interest. When speaking to the Manager, I would insist on the most Senior Colourist in the shop. if you are not confident in their ability go elsewhere.

At the end of the day you are a couple of hours work to a hairdresser but you have to look at your hair every day, which is awful if you don't like what you see! Make sure you are comfortable with the Colourist and be clear about what you want to the so they understand. I am sure they will be able to get it lighter if that is what you want but it may affect the condition of the hair.

I am glad to have my colour back to my prefered shade and if I now have to spend a bit more time and money on shampoo and conditioner that's ok with me.

I hope this helps!
