Interview forthcoming...help dress my nether regions, esp. my feet

Hello again all. It was a shoe request last time, and here I go again. Job interview on Friday - a two-parter. Teaching presentation in the morning, and I'd like to look practical and every so slightly on-trend without appearing down-with-the-kids. More formal interview in the afternoon. If I wear a jacket and skirt/tights + low heels I tend to feel as if I am trying to look too 'pretty'.
So - I have a selection of good jackets - from Zara. Was thinking of a jacket and Breton stripe top and these trousers in the morning and changing the top for shirt in the afternoon. But what about my feet? And are the trousers ok? And shall I just wear the shirt all day? (I am going to have to run home and feed the baby in between the two bits of the interview so baby sick may make that essential anyway).
But the really pressing question is what shoes? I have low heels but again think that low heels and trousers might make me look a bit as if I'm teetering around. I have to go for a guided tour of the place too, and it may be snowing. Loafers of some sort? Lace up brogues?

OP, I'm not sure your definition of nether regions is the same as mine, so I shall bow out of this thread with an immature snigger

Oh sod and whoops. Sleepless nights and tired after tending to a toddler's constipated nether regions all day. At least people might read the post...I can obviously manage to choose my own knickers, and dress myself, just about. For nether regions read lower half.

if you want flats they they need to be structured and neat. I think the top with jacket is perfectly acceptable for both interviews - to be honest I would find it a little bit strange if the person I was interviewing came back in a different top!

I also sniggered at nether regions - sorry Blush

smeraldina · 11/02/2012 23:08

All sniggerers welcome, providing they bring advice.
Ok - so changing tops a no-no, and stripy one ok for both? I'll wear one or the other then and won't touch the baby till i've got changed

How about these?

those shoes are lovely - the patent really smartens them up. Remember to keep jewellery to a minimum - long necklaces or bangles arent good for working with children - and to relax as much as possible. Interviewers warm much more quickly to someone who can talk confidently in a relaxed manner.

Have fun and good luck :)

I definitely wouldn't change tops, if we did a full day interview for a position and someone changed I would be very perplexed.

Shoes are lovely, definitely go for them. Prefer the top to the shirt, although think it will need some kind of necklace to set it off.

You're own your own with your nether region coverings, alhough matching underwear makes me feel more confident Blush

Ok, I am assuming it's secondary? What subject? Classroom teacher or HoD etc?

I think the outfit is too casual, sorry. The trousers particularly. Like the shoes.

What size and shape are you?

Sorry I dropped of the radar - and thanks tethers and Coconutty for the tips. I decided that I had to stop internet shopping and start preparing. I went for the shirt following your advice that the top was too casual. I did wear those trousers and shoes in the end, and a jacket. I didn't change.

Remarkably, the baby wasn't sick on me on me.

And I got the job. (University, to answer your question tethersend - so maybe slightly more casual than school?)
Rock on. Am over the moon. Gratitude, as always, to mumsnet for sartorial support and solidarity.
