Under eye wrinkles - what can I do?!

pinkyredrose · 11/02/2012 15:45

Hi all. I'm 41 and this last year I've noticed my age catching up with me. The skin under my eyes looks so wrinkled now, it's like criss cross wrinkles and the skin is sagging slightly so if I'm in a certain light it looks even worse.

From previously looking young for my age (being told many times that I looked early 20s when I was mid 30 s) now when I tell people my age they believe me straight away :( . Disclaimer - not that there's anything wrong with looking 41, i just want my skin to look better.

Has anyone found a product or treatment that actually makes a difference in wrinkles and skin tone? There's so many products out there that I get totally addled wondering which one to buy or which ingredients I should be looking for, it's all v confusing!

Can anyone help?

do you know, I've never realised that mrsmartin, but it makes so much sense ... from now on I will try to sleep on my back... not sure how this will work with spooning lol

snoozingbeauty · 14/02/2012 12:52

I love Elemis too and was using their Pro-Ollagen until I found this - Mama Mio Eye Know www.mamamio.com/uk/eye-know.html Love that it's just one product, and I love the massagey way you apply it, it really seems to de-puff but sorts the fine lines too. Don't have time for serums, creams, masks...! ;) xx

I agree with sleeping on your back

I sleep on my left side and my face is wrecked compared with the other

mrsmartin · 14/02/2012 18:01

yeah its just www.qvcuk.com - I expect there are loads of brands on there that you will have heard of/actually use...I just don't like to waste money so I buy all of my 'new and untested' products from them so that I can get a refund if I don't like it. I have even been cheeky and ordered jewellery from them to wear for a glamourous ball and then returned it (shameful but soooo much cheaper than hiring diamonds etc!!)

ggirl · 14/02/2012 18:03

can you reallt control which position you sleep in
i wuold always default to my left side unless i sewed razor blades or tennis balls onto my arms
and then it would be annoying cos it would repeatedly wake me up

is it a skill of the very vain only

mrsmartin · 14/02/2012 18:56

ggirl pretty much agree - I have slept in the same position my whole life and whilst I am happy to change my bedding and my skincare, I really don't think I'm prepared to change my sleeping habits!! Give it a couple of decades and maybe I'll reconsider though... Wink

cyb · 14/02/2012 20:49

Yes it IS a skill

Wooden clothes pegs judiciously attached to ones pyjama arms help too

But I worry my arsefat will spread even wider if I'm lying flat on it all night

thepureemporia · 15/02/2012 13:37

Make sure you use good quality - preferably natural makeup, moisturiser and makeup remover. Natural products will work with your skin. The remover in particular should be oil based. Alcohol based ones can irritate and dry the eye area. A good eye cream should also help moisturise the delicate skin around your eyes.

mrsmartin I cannot believe that qvc deal. Fanbloomingtastic. Love the elemis products and had put off replacing them because of the price recently...after some other shopping...but cannot pass that bargain by!!! Any other bargains like that please post!!!! Sorry to high jack thread!!!

pinkyredrose · 16/02/2012 08:48

Ooh that Mama Mio stuff looks good!

Cyb - can you really see that much difference to your skin on the side you sleep on?! I've beeb trying to sleep on my back but always end up on my side.

Good point about eye make up remover, I'll make sure I've got an oil based one.

Ooh have found the Eucerin hyaleronic cream.on ebay for £5.99, bargain! Will get the Qvc offer too!

Yes pinky I sleep on my left as a rule unless I make a conscious effort to back sleep.

I have a deep crease on that side of my face under my eye and in my brow bone skin too, that I dont have on the other side

Botox here I come!!

pinkyredrose · 17/02/2012 22:36

Wow Cyb I didn't realise that sleeping on your side would make such a difference. Have you tried the satin pillowcase? I think I'll get one, gotta be worth a try!

I have been trying to sleep on my back but it's so much more comfy on my side.

brilliant eye cream is clinique repair eye cream. its fab! really soerts out those fine lines . just try to tap it on to stimulate the circulation.

AnxiousPanxious · 18/02/2012 13:51

I've been using olive oil and calendula oil, about 70:30 ratio, and have noticed a real improvement in the skin under my eyes. Previously I was using eye creams of one sort or another and not seeing any benefit. The oils have improved the rest of my skin too - at least as good as a good moisturiser.

pinkyredrose · 19/02/2012 14:03

Ah I have olive oil in the kitchen, I'll give it a go. where can I get calendula oil though?

I think I saw that Clinique eye cream on ebay I'll see if it's still there.

Thanks for all the tips ladies, lots of new things to try !
