Under-eye dark circles

Does anyone have a good recommendation for under eye concealers, or creams that actually help with dark circles?

I have heriditary dark circles under my eyes, which seem to resist all attempts to be concealed. By the time I've put on enough concealer to cover them, it creases in the fine lines around my eyes (I don't have many but just a couple of feathery ones, totally unnoticable until they're covered with concealer, but when they crease they become very noticable.

I've tried Laura Mercier, Benefit and MAC products, with no real success. Has anyone used anything on persistant dark circles that actually works?

I don't really get spots, although my skin is a charming combination of dry and blotchy at the moment as my office is 6 degrees when I get in and I sit with two fan heaters pointing directly at me until I warm up!

I need to get on a get a proper skin care routine going I think, I basically just take my make-up off and then slap a load of protect and perfect round my eyes. And a proper primer. Maybe I should start another thread!

I love my skin care routine now - My skin looks clear and bright and plumpcious. I use a combination of elemis and decleor and they work brilliantly together - found protect and perfect too 'synthetic' in texture. Anyway, only mentioned smashbox concealer because someone asked if it was any good. I found it too sticky for under eyes but was good as a blemish concealer. Like I previously posted, Mally is the only thing that works for me (have heard good things about amazing cosmetics and bobbi brown though).

I'm going to get the Mally when it comes back in stock :)

I just have no idea about skin care, as I've never really needed to worry about it, but now the dark circles have got worse its got me thinking about all the other bits.

My mother looks ALOT older than she is (she looks mid 60's and she is 40's) and it is because she has never looked after her skin. Her pores are huge and she has pigmentation and is very jowly. I have already inherited the stretch marks (caused by puberty when I was 9 and then rapid weight gain earlier this year - I now look like a road map of Britain in cretain areas that are thankfully hidden from the public). Anyway - good skincare is stopping me from looking like my mother - best reason to use it ever!

The mally is great, just remember less is more and use your fingers to apply the concealer part - the warmth helps it to blend. If you struggle with it check out the how to on www.mallybeauty.com and if it still doesn't work for you then send it back (£30 is too much for something you don't like). Wink

ps - the mally mascara is my number one mascara - it looks amazing!

actually - ive just watched her demo and I would like to say - I don't use that much!!! But it does layer well and obv foundation gets swept over so it doesn't look as obvious as that! :o

Marking place and watching with interest. I also have hereditary dark circles/bags that make me look at least 10 years older than I am! Sad

Erase paste UNDER foundation with Laura Mercier secret concealer and brightening powder over the top does seem to have made a bit of a difference today!

To be honest though, my rotten toddler had me up at 5AM, so I think that there isn't much that could cover them totally at the moment.

I found one on ebay called skinclior eye serum or something like that. It was brilliant, it got rid of my dark circles in about 3 weeks of using it and I use it now to keep them at bay and it keeps my eyes and lashes in good condition. However, i think its the arnica in it that takes them away.

don't think tear troughs are my problem, I have no bags at all, just the eye socket underneath the eye in its entirety is dark. Unless I've misunderstood what they are?
^

I have this, mine are the same. Not puffy, no bags, just dark pits underneath my eyes 👀

Here's what works for me:

Wearing colours that suit you will make a big difference.

Also, when I drink coffee my eyes are less dark underneath. Make of that what you will!

Only apply concealer on the dark bits, otherwise it'll flake and go dry.

"The only thing that bothers me about cosmetic skincare is that make-up should not be absorbed by the skin - that is what causes spots. "

That's not what causes spots. I mean, it could be one of the causes, but it's not THE cause, otherwise it wouldn't be the case that teenage boys suffer the most out of all groups.
