Bras!

Got fitted for a bra in Debenhams a few months ago and found a style of bra that fits well and looks nice. Have bought another couple since then. I usually tend to wear a bra for 2-3 days before washing it. I've noticed just recently that the "older" ones are now starting to feel uncomfy under my arms and around my back, where the elastic is. It makes me feel itchy and uncomfy.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there any way of stopping it happening? I don't want to (and can't afford to!) keep replacing my bras every 2-3 months!

Are they all the same brand? If it is maybe consider changing, atlantis are good and debenhams own ultimate range.

I wash mine on a 30 and find this keeps them looking nice for longer.

I hate to break it to you but bras for regular use are only supposed to last 6-9 months, then the support starts to go in them. This includes super expensive bras as well as the cheaper ones. It's the same with running shoes and make-up - everything has an expirery date.

I had that problem with bras when i was younger except it was after about 3 to 4 washed. I am now more careful. I have recently bought two new bras (in the sale) from Boux Avenue, and although they come up a little small so you may well need to go up a cup size, they are ever so comfortable. They are the most comfortable bra i have ever worn.

They are all debenhams own range but different styles, ifykwim. I understand that they won't last 6-9 months, but these are only 3 months old at most! Next new ones I get, I'm going to handwash them and see if that makes any difference. I usually wash them on a 40 degree "mixed fabric" wash rather than a full on cotton wash. I have found that some of my cheaper bras lasted so much longer than these ones ... !

All underwired bras should be handwashed and drip dried anyway as the washing machine can damage them. I take mine in the shower with me then hang them over the bath to dry.

Though if you can't be arsed with handwashing, at least use a lingerie bag, do up the bra before putting it in the bag, use a delicates wash liquid in the machine and put the machine on the delicates cycle.

My bras are put in with my little ones clothes and i find i have no problems with damage, and the only reason i had to buy new ones (annoyingly) was that since losing weight i have gone up a cup size! So new ones were required. They will probably last about 6 months or so before i need new ones again, unless of course i go back down a cup size (please no)
