Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Foundation

Has anyone tried this yet? It's brand new and only available from John Lewis at the moment. I'm itching to try it, as I love Estee Lauder foundations. I'm wondering if it performs as well as their double wear foundations, and whether it's good for oily skin. It's supposed to be really lightweight in feel, and comfortable to wear.

It's good coverage but I was unsure about how natural it looked when I tried it.

I asked for a sample and was told that they don't provide them - only give an exchange if you don't like it so I'm not bothering.

QuinnFabray · 09/02/2012 19:23

That's disappointing, Estee Lauder are usually really good at providing decent samples. I thought it was their policy. Will hold out for a bit and look out for reviews of it.

Lisa Eldridge used it one of her recent videos, she rated it but said that like a lot of the new water based foundations the colour does darken as you blend it on to your skin, so get a shade lighter than you may first think.

Like to hear what you think if you do try it. I'm using bourjois at the moment and would rate it over bobbi brown, Laura mercier, clinique, Chanel and bare escentuals, which have all had a place in my make up bag at some point!

QuinnFabray · 09/02/2012 20:52

I agree about the Bourjois foundations ( healthy mix and 10 hr sleep effect ), they really compete against the high end brands. I have horrible awkard skin though, and nine out of ten foundations I've tried don't work well for me. EL double wear and dw light work pretty well though ( as in don't slide off my face ) so I'm keen to try anything new by them. Will check out the Lisa Eldridge video, thanks.

No samplers??? I'd never switch foundation without a sampler.

Silly Estee Lauder....

MissTriangle · 09/02/2012 21:55

(first message as a am a serial S+B lurker! So hello everyone first!)

I bought it yesterday - so have only worn it today. I like it- it does not have the full coverage of DW. Also it is not as matt but it looks very natural and feels like you are not wearing anything. The shades are a bit pinky though - which is fine for me as I have pinky skin, but might not be for everyone. God knows why they have no samples though!

FIFIBEBE · 09/02/2012 22:00

I was told in House of Fraser that when it was available in store (later this month?) there would be samples. Was itching to get it in JL but resisted. Would love something like Double Wear Light with a very slightly dewy finish.

mrscumberbatch · 09/02/2012 22:02

I found dw light too greasy so I'm hoping that this is the inbetweener.

I spend a lot of money with Estee Lauder every year but not going to be conned into buying foundation with no sample

GeorginaWorsley · 09/02/2012 22:08

wore today as well, not sure that I like it tbh.
Seemed not to hv enough coverage for me.

lilolilmanchester · 09/02/2012 22:16

hatcam, which bourjois foundation do you use? I've been struggling to find one I really like, have liked other Bourjois makeup so would like to try the foundation

hatcam · 09/02/2012 22:22

Healthy mix - it's a great colour for me and I like the texture, really light, buildable, soft but neither shiny (vitalumiere is a bit too 'dewy' for me) nor matt. I can get away without powder on my nose. Love it.

lilolilmanchester · 09/02/2012 22:34

thanks hatcam

I don't recommend buying this foundation without trying a sample first. I was foolish to purchase it from John Lewis where they will refund it if you are not happy with it. The lady behind the counter supposedly found my PERFECT match but the colour is far too yellow. Who's got the time to go back to JL now?

sobenobu · 11/02/2012 21:03

I think I'll wait for H of Fraser launch then for a sample.

I made the lady in JL do half my face in the colour she recommended and half in the paler shade I wanted - guess which looked better (which we both agreed on).

If you want coverage Georgina I think Diorskin nude is pretty much the best.

alwaysrunninginheels · 12/02/2012 13:26

I purchased it from John Lewis yesterday and was assured that they refund if you are not happy. Looked nice in the shop but in natural light it is very yellow.....it gives me an almost jaundice appearance. So i will be returning it if i can find the time for the 80 mile round trip.....its a shame though because the texture and feel is nice. Might try another shade....maybe!

sobenobu · 20/02/2012 14:26

Really now heelshmmm... I would be tempted to try a different assistant in my local JL and her the policy. I have a voucher burning a hole in my pocket here.

GeorginaWorsley · 20/02/2012 18:14

Agree,it is a bit yellow.Couldn't think what it was that I didn't like about it.
Have dusted some pinky toned translucent powder over and seems slightly better, but won't be re buying.

alwaysrunninginheels · 25/02/2012 14:35

Took the invisible foundation back to John Lewis today- no quibble over refunding money and they will contact me when they have samples of all the shades in so I can be sure if it suits properly next time. How's that for good customer service!!!!
