Curling iron recommendations please!

Can anyone recommend me some amazing fat-barrelled curling irons please?!

I would love to have the messy/wavy/beachy look, but have been unable to achieve this with my GHD's. I have very long, thick hair so something with a wider barrell would be ideal. I don't want to spend £££'s on a product that turns out to be rubbish...

Can anyone help me?!

Mine isn't fat barrelled but I can make fat curls with them. I have the remmington pearl wand - it was about £25 from boots and I can honestly say it is the best curling tool I have ever used. My hair is naturally poker straight and it is the only thing that has ever kept a curl in my hair (usually they my hair was straight again within 20 mins of walking outside) and I don't even need hairspray. It is a wand, rather than a tong, so you don't get that awful line like you do with a tong or straighteners. Also, you can get curls as tight or as loose as you want, depending on the size of the section. It is alsoreally quick to use - my hair falls halfway down my back and it takes me 5 mins to do loose waves and 10mins for med sized curls.

The trick with a wand is to pull the wand out from the curl and let the curl cool before seperating it.

Mine is a bargain version of the Yogi wand - which I love but couldn't justify the price - and it works brilliantly.

I have the Babyliss Curling Wand which sounds very similar to mrsmartin's wand.

For bigger curls I use the fattest end of the conical shaped wand. It is truly gorgeous and even better the day after when the curls have dropped a bit.

I have the babyliss curling tongs but just can't get any curls out of them at all. Would I be able to with the wand? Or rollers? I am rubbish with my hair.

A wand is great - really easy to use and the curls last till you wash them out.

But are they easy to use, will I be able to do it bearing in mind I can barely straighten my hair.

I can seriously recommend the babyliss professional curling wand, I bought the larger barrel size as have long hair. Tried loads of products to keep the curls in and my now tried and tested method is before curling spray each section with Loreal tech ni art constructor then once curled spray with Loreal Infinium or kerastase double force hairspray to keep the hold. This seems to always work on my fine hair and curls stay in all day at weddings etc this way!
