How many is too many?

There are a couple of dress styles (one M&S, one LK Bennett) that I really like & suit me, fit well, and generally make getting ready for work hassle free.

I already have 2 of each type (different colours/fabrics, so they don't really feel like they are obviously the same dress)

M&S have just launched a new colour and LKB have got lots of colours, and they are now making their way into the sale.

Do I carry on buying, knowing they fit, look good etc...or can you have too many of the same thing - even if a different colour - and it starts to look a bit...dull?

I would, if found a style I really liked I would buy more than one (and have regretted not doing so in the past). I have two pairs of 'smart' trousers, both exactly the same but in different colours. But I am totally uninterested in fashion/style so probably not the best person to answer your question Grin.

What is the M & S dress like (nosey) ?

Hi Ragwort - I am not really into high fashion (as you will probably see from the M&S dress ha ha) but have really developped a thing for dresses...but they have to fit well, which is a bit of a challenge for me as I have a big bust and a non flat stomach, so I need a lot of draping

I already have this dress in navy and black

I do this with jeans, if I find a style that fits I buy up the colours!

Which LKB is it? Davina?

noddyholder · 05/02/2012 15:04

There is a particular top in zara that really suits me and they do it every season in different colours and prints and I just keep buying them! When you feel good in something you can never have too many!

Amber - yes, I have it in the brown tweed and purple, thinking about the dary grey pinstripe. Or any other colour really!

Oh you sound just like me re boobs and tummy. I just keep buying the same dress from different places. When I did try and change my style I found the dress just got left in the wardrobe, so I would say stick with what you like.

I love my davina but sadly my budget wouldn't stretch to a second one and it's probably not the most pratical attire for a sahmGrin

But yes definately buy more if you can afford to.

Does the m and s one fit as well as davina and is it the same size? I've seen quite a lot of davina replicas on the web but haven't yet dared purchase one but would love one for the rare occasions that I get glammed up

HomeEcoGnomist · 05/02/2012 16:53

QueenC - they definitely fit differently (which I am actually pleased about, since one is 3 times the price of the other!) and I haven't even thought of the M&S one as a replica...just another dress with that very forgiving ruching at the side.

M&S is less fitted, but still a nice length, and absolutely fine for the office - not sure I would wear it as a going out dress. However, another plus is that it's machine washable. The hidden extra cost of fancy-pants clothes is the big dry cleaning bill!

If it fits and is flattering then buy it in every colour - you can update/change your look with accessories - jewellery, jackets etc.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/02/2012 21:18

It's a lovely dress

HomeEcoGnomist · 05/02/2012 21:46

Ok, I am convinced...it's fine to buy another Grin Thanks MNetters!

Lovely dress. Wish I could wear it but I've arms like a Suomo wrestler
