My little boy is 8 months and just started standing and walking around furniture. Usually he just has socks on and we don't worry with shoes etc. However, DH is keen to get DS some shoes, and the CM would like something on his feet or permission to sellotape his socks on Grin
We have been to John Lewis and Clarks today, he's measured at a 3.5 but he has "wide arches" and is measuring over a H. They tried four lots of pairs of 3.5H and they don't stay on / fit properly.
Is there anywhere I can buy wider fitting shoes? Or, can anybody recommend something to wear on his feet rather than just socks, that wont interfere with his trying to walk?

Thanks!

I got these for DD at that age and they were great - not ideal for outdoors but great for indoors

He needs some startrite pre-walkers. The best style for him would be a t bar with a higher, boot-like, ankle. They are soft enough for him to feel the ground under his feet (put him in hard soles and he won't learn to flex his foot as he walks until much later - he will also be more unsteady). I used to run a childrens fitting dept so I know this inside out!! Go to Russell and Bromley kids, Charles Clinkard or John Lewis and ask to be fitted by their A* fitter (top person) - He may well need to wait a couple of weeks until he grows into a 4H (if he is toddling then he can'tr afford to have too much room at the front, basically it should be half a thumb width 6mm ish).

He needs a style like paws, tiny or rocketship so that you can buckle them on (he will just undo the velcro) and so that they are more adjustable on his instep. An expert will be able to fit him up no problem (I once managed to fit a toddler girl who's feet resembled doughballs, they were so round - took a while but it was done). Good Luck!! :o

The ones Jcee has advised are good but you would struggle to get them on his feet with his instep. I'm trying to find these over-sock things on the internet that stop kids pulling their socks off - they are great but so hard to find. will post the link when I find them!!!

of all the things to inherit from me, it had to be fat feet!
