PEDICURES - how much do you pay?

HipHopOpotomus · 03/02/2012 09:48

I never get around to doing it at home & my feet/nails need some attention. But the prices where I live/work (West London) do seem a bit steep (and I am a bit tight I guess - I don't really have a 'beauty' budget).

Please share how much do you pay for a pedicure and how long it takes.

£20 and takes about 45 minutes to an hour but they can do it quicker if I say I'm in a rush. I go to a Vietnamese place in SE London.

monkeysmama · 03/02/2012 10:06

I only have one every few months in winter but go twice a month in summer. Most places like the one I go to do a nail file and polish change for £5 so it's worth having a pedi then topping up with cheaper option on your next visit.

HipHopOpotomus · 03/02/2012 10:45

I think £20 is a good price - I really don't want to pay more than that (great tip re file & polish). I will keep looking out west here.

Cheapest I have seen is £25 though it's usually more. I work in Chiswick which is even more expensive than where I live!!!

I'm a DIY girl -

PED-EGG - £1.99 Home Bargains
Nails Inc Pedi Socks & Nails inc Mexican Lime Heel Balm (£35 from Debenhams)
Crystal Nail file, cutical removal cream, cutical oil, buffer & polish (already in nail kit)

I give myself a pedicure once a week - the products I bought specifically for the pedi cost about £46 a year (1 tube of heel balm lasts me abot 6 months) so that is about 90p per pedicure. The ped-egg takes 5 mins max, then 20 mins of wearing the socks with the balm, then a quick shower, regular moisturiser and you can paint your tootsies before sorting hair and doing make-up/night time skin care (depending on morning or night. My pedicures only take up 10 mins of my time a week and are much cheaper.

Haven't been for a while but £23 for a luxury pedicure in the leather seats that massage you while sitting!!! I don't have to chat, can read Grazia and drink coffee!!

HipHopOpotomus · 03/02/2012 14:21

ooooh mrs I like your style. I have all the kit, but never use it - but you have mildly inspired me. Perhaps tonight will be the night :)

£23 for a luxury is good - the cheapest I've found near me is £24 for a mini. Cheapest luxury one is £30 (high rents round here)

my local is £18 for 1 hour in a massage leather chair with jacuzzi style water basin (South London) and the place doesn't smell of acetone!

Littlepumpkinpie · 03/02/2012 15:24

looks like I paid to much £30 but it was a treat that month. I normally do it myself weekly

wineandcheese · 03/02/2012 15:34

HipHop
I go to a place round the back of Goodge St tube station - on Tottenham St. It's £36 for a spa mani-pedi (think pedi only is £25ish). It's not a fancy establishment but they do a really great, thorough job.

chickenmug · 03/02/2012 15:44

I pay £32 for a spa pedicure in North London. It takes about an hour but it's lovely as I can read Grazia and drink coffee. The nail varnish lasts until it grows out for ages.

HipHopOpotomus · 03/02/2012 16:00

looks like Londoners north of the river are paying 33%ish more than those south of it!!!

12 quid here in West Yorkshire, and she does a good job too!

HipHopOpotomus · 03/02/2012 16:03

I think I might pay MYSELF a nice bottle of RED wine and attend to my own tootsies this evening. Cost about £8 :)

I am going on holiday (to NZ where it is summer) end of the month so will splash out there for a proper pedicure as my toes will be out of shoes and into sandals - SHOCK!

I recently paid 42 pounds at my local SE London place and they didn't even do a great job. I prefer aveda in holborn for slightly less and want to know where this Vietnamese place is!

likelucklove · 03/02/2012 22:19

I'm in the completely wrong area but I go to have all my pedicures, nails, hair etc at the local college. £5 a time and their always so careful and gentle (I have sensitive feet) and don't generally talk as their concentrating. It is always checked by a teacher too before I go. Maybe you could have a trial one of somewhere by you? Even if it doesn't go great, it a learning experience for both of you! Grin

Maraki · 03/02/2012 23:09

Chandellina and wineandcheese: there is a great little chinese nail salon on lambs conduit street, opposite gt ormond st hospital where I get my nails done. I think pedicures are around £25 (but I usually go there for manis as I do my own pedis).
Flexi nail bar, 30 lambs conduit st, in between holborn and russel sq. They dont have any music, so I can sneak at work time and do work calls (with hands free). The ladies who work there are all clued up and stay silent when my phone rings!!!

monkeysmama · 04/02/2012 21:29

In Greenwich Chandellina, but they have similar all over the place in London. It's not a glossy fancy salon but they do a very good job cheaply Grin

LiliPinkiePie · 05/02/2012 13:27

Tooting is the place to go round here! Hundreds of nail bars, and they all do a pretty good job. The best is up near balham and costs £18 for a really fantastic pedi.

Mrsrobertduvall · 05/02/2012 14:37

Don't go to the hand and foot spa in Wimbledon and Richmond...about £67.

Instinctivemum · 05/02/2012 15:52

PerryCombover · 05/02/2012 15:55
