As the title says really. I have to go through this torture 3 times a week and am woefully underprepared. Have cracked it with the wellies and thermal socks but really need a coat to feel cozy in. Am fed up of spending all evening trying to warm up again!
anyone have any recommendations? am 5'2 pear shaped and care more about warmth on this issue than style!

Can highly recommend the North Face Nuptse. Like wearing a duvet. Smile

thanks Mrs Deebee, have seen the Nuptse but it's so short! How do you keep your lower half warm?

That's the magic of it. Wink It keeps you so warm you don't need anything on the lower half ! Honestly. Sometimes it actually gets too hot and I have to undo a bit to cool down !

There is a North Face coat that is 3/4 length, have you seen that ?

I was stunned when I first got my Nuptse, as they are so lightweight. I was a bit miffed and was thinking "oh, another gimmick, this'll never keep me warm" but it really does !

I got a goose down coat from eBay . It was £90 but it's soo warm . I'm short and it comes down to mid calf . It comes in blue brown and black if you are interested I can link .

I think uniqlo and leads end do feather coats as well as north face . I know it isn't the most flattering coat but I walk 30 minutes to school and back and I am never cold . Smile

lands end down coats, down to your knees (excuse the pun). on special offer at the moment. plus thermal vest and longjohns and fluffy lined boots from clarkes. you do wear a hat, scarf and gloves too????

dreamingofsun · 02/02/2012 18:41

M&S have sale on thermals at the moment

CMOTDibbler · 02/02/2012 18:43

Lands End coat gets my vote. I was wearing it in -9C last week over a long sleeved t shirt and was totally cosy.

North Face Arctic parka, Merrell boots, thermal base layers (top and leggings), warm trousers, jumper and ski socks!

pootlebug · 02/02/2012 20:14

Whatever coat you choose, thermals make a big difference too. I like the Uniqlo ones - wash well, are comfy soft, and keep you warm.

msduck · 02/02/2012 20:48

I would say ditch the wellies - they don't really keep your feet warm when ground cold. Lined boots or walking boots best in my experience!
