The definitive warm, waterproof coat for a 3yo girl?

I need help.

I want something which is actually waterproof, with a hood and is warm enough to be a winter coat.

In age 3-4.

Can be flexible on design, have resigned myself to the fact that it will probably have to be a pink monstrosity and will cost an arm and a leg; but the cheaper and less pink the better Wink

Polarn O Pyret - expensive but oh so worth it. They last forever and pass down too.

Agree with POP or Spotty Otter

A quick google will normally get you a 30% discount voucher for Gap.
Second the recommendations for H&M.
DS has a Trespass coat which has been excellent and normally available heavily reduced.

PoP are windproof which really makes a difference, the cold air doesn't get in through the zip and the hood stays up :) ebay usually has some.

Look in the Land's End Girls clearance section - worth it.

Nothing new to add but more recommendations for JoJo and Polarn.

That JoJo coat dairymoo links to is fab - DS is on his second one after it got us through such a bitterly cold winter last year so well. It has a nice longer bit over the bum which is great for stopping the cold getting in their back when they crouch or sit down. They also do fleece lined dungarees which we have for cold days in the garden or on the beach or in the snow. Together they keep him really toasty. Their all in ones are fab for little ones - DD has one.

They do lovely unisex colours as well as more traditional pink/blue. DD has the blue/red/green/yellow stripe for her snow suit. DS had red last year (so that has DD's name on it for next winter!) although chose boats this year.

Otherwise I also recommend Polarn. Not had a winter coat from them but love their fleeces. They're Swedish so really know about keeping the cold out, and they do lovely bright unisex colours. Finnish friend (so she knows about the cold!) swears by Polarn.

Definitely POP, waterproof and they also do them with detachable/attachable fleeces, fantastic kit, ours now being passed to dc3 and they still look great. No pink either, unless you especially want it! I have bought red, green, navy, knowing they would be used by DS's and DD.

Try Decathlon - DD1 has one that is long, warm and def waterproof. Was about £30 and purple. It's a 3 in 1 with fleece inside but v good wrist and neck fastenings that keep it firmly in place when putting on and taking off.
In fact all mine have Decathlon coats and they are getting handed down with plenty of wear left. And nice neutral colours - red, brown, green, etc.

DD3 has this one nicely reduced at the moment to. Washes brilliantly, definitely waterproof and very warm (she says, and she will whine if chilly).

AuntingCarse · 04/02/2012 08:17

*too

Wow, you lot are brilliant! The POP ones look great, will have a look in store to see if they've any sale stock left.

Thanks Smile

I find this website quite good. Got DD1's winter coat for £10.
