help me find suitable dressy shoes for a 14yr old

DD has a party on friday, so she has this dress but she needs shoes. i am loathed to let her have anything with a high heel, but i would let her have a small heel or a small wedge. She is wanting to wear the dress with black patterned tights....

ive look online for shoes or boots and cant find anything much. What sort of shoes would work with this dress that are not towering platform 6" heels?

thanks faux - quite a few of those are the sort of thing id not mind her wearing - going to have a look in in new look tomorrow. just preparing for the inevitable battle over heels....

those shoe boots are about the highest i think she should wear, but they are nice and a definite possible! She is all leg, but i think in high heels she will look like a baby foal learning to walk for the first time Grin She is beautiful but like most 14yr olds she tends to live in hoodies, jeans and converse....i would like her not to come home with a broken ankle.

How much do you want to spend?

My 14 year old has her eye on these:

New Look is my favourite for party shoes - cheap enough that someone treading on them or spilling drinks on them is not a disaster Smile She will look beautiful. I think the shoeboots or a bright colour court shoe are prob the most 'in fashion' if my teenage niece is anything to go by...

DD will not so much as look at a Clarks these days....i did well to keep her in Clarks school shoes up until she was 13!! plus they are a bit pricey for one party. Its her friends brothers engagement party, so quite a "grown up" do,

i think New Look might be the way to go. Cheers.

TheReturn my dd 12 spotted a pair like your dd has her eye on only she saw them in new look and they were a lot bleeding cheaper than the clarks ones :o

Quiet, I'm off to New Look then!

I wouldn't wear those Clarks shoes and I'm 48 next week. Social suicide when you're a teenager! Don't really like those shoe boots with that dress either.

Second New Look or similar, though there are still some sale bargains to be had. My 2 older girls are 16 and 18. Would recommend she takes some ballet pumps or similar in her bag if she isn't used to heels. Dd1 informs me she's going clubbing in flat shoes tonight!

I hope she has a lovely time - I love it when my girls get dressed up. Must say (old timer mum of 4) I don't worry too much about height of heels too much if they are just for a couple of hours and are comfy.

i will tell her to take some flats but you know how much teens listen dont you?
Grin

off to new look tonight - wish me luck. i have to go to work after and im dropping her at her pals to get ready. Her dad is picking her up at midnight.

also trying to get her into a strapless bra...god this is all hard work isnt it? she is acutely embarrassed to be seen bra shopping with me...

ye gods....how difficult is shoe shopping with a teen????

she ended up with wedge heeled platform shoe boots....there was nothing that she would entertain that i liked (all old lady shoes she said!) and we ended up compromising after the sales assistant got me to try a pair on to see how well i could walk in them....(i am like Bambi in high heels Blush) and i had to concede that they felt quite stable compared to a normal heel, but they seemed enormously high to me....but there was nothing else in her size....i got the usual delivery coming tomorrow....

now i will be on tenterhooks all night waiting for the phone call that says she broke her ankle....i wont settle until she is home...im at work on nights tonight so at least i might be too busy to worry...Confused
