Itchy scalp help

I suffer from itchy flaky scalp, but have kept it under control with the ginger shampoo from bodyshop for ages now.

I wash it every day and it was getting into terrible condition, so decided to Start washing every other day. I'm using batiste dry shampoo on the off days.

Coincidentally I also tried a sodium thingy free shampoo, (for 2 washes) which gave me a really itchy scalp.

Now I have returned to the ginger shampoo, but it is still really itchy on the wash days, the non wash days are much better.

Please, in all your infinite mumsnet beauty wisdom, help!
What should I do?
Ps all my clothes are now white with dandruff!

You should have a look at the SLS free shampoo from Skin Salveation. Our family uses the whole range of products and in fact the shampoo doubles up as a great shower wash! Seems to keep hair very soft as well, don't know how that works!

Hi,

I've had the same problem for as long as I can remember. I've started using Manuka honey to wash my hair with. I got two pots of it from holland and Barrett for £12 in the penny sale plus a bottle of apple cider vinegar.

Get a pint jug of warm water (freshly boiled with cold in) and stir in a table spoon of manuka honey until it dissolves. Add a drop of tee tree if you like.
Get another jug/ water bottle (without top on) and make up some more warm water. Put in 1-2 teaspoons on cider apple vinegar. Stir.

In the shower, slowly pour it over your head, making sure you focus on your scalp, massage all over slowly, wait two mins and rinse under warm water for 5 mins.

Next, pour the cider apple vinegar over your head, making sure you cover all over your scalp. Wait 2 mins and rinse thoroughly.

I have been amazed at the results from doing this. I have also been doing salt bathing for my neck and around the edges of my scalp where it gets dry. Just pour hot water into a cup, add cols water and add a pinch of salt, use a cotton pad.

I've also tried not to wash my hair as much , at the moment I am doing every three days.

I have tried dozens of the more natural ones after someone warned me about my reliance on t gel. This is by far the most effective

not the cheapest but I always wait for a 3 for 2, as they always have offers on there.
Try a neem spray to deter critters, after constant infestation this def worked in our house.
