anti-perspirant or other solution for excessive perspiration

Does anyone have a solution for a 16 year old who feels she has a problem please? I am assuming it is hormonal and is likely to settle? It isn't really noticeable to me, and doesn't atm seem like something to bother the doctor with, but she feels she cannot wear light t-shirts or shirts due to staining and it bothers her.

This stuff is good - I first used it at a similar age to your DD (I got embarrassed at excessive wetness, wet patches, had terrible staining).

You put a tiny bit on via cotton wool overnight periodically and use a normal deodrant in the day. I found that over time, the excessive sweating was really reduced. I also used it a few years ago as well and it almost completely stopped anything but the lightest touch of sweating.

You can buy it via Amazon and other sights as well nowadays.

Dove or sure max - it's a cream about £5 and apply before bed. Works best that way. Then she could always top up with a normal one in the am

thanks you very much for the ideas. Will get them immediately.

Driclor also works well, I think my husband uses that now instead of odaban, you build it up over a few applications and then just use it a couple of times a week after washing, before you go to bed. Just to warn you though if you are hot under the arms sometimes it can sting a bit, it does work wonders though, after building it up my husband only gets sweat marks when he's in the gym!

there is a product called anhydrol forte that is designed for excessive sweating - it temporarily blocks the sweat glands. I used it as a teenager and it was fantastic. I won't lie - it does sting when you put it on but I think 20mins of discomfort for 100% confidence (esp at 16) is well worth it. You can buy it over the counter from chemists and it's about £5.

Mitchum roll on is the best imo-it never lets me dowm and the showefresh scent is lovely.

sobenobu · 01/02/2012 21:31

Sure max or Dove both great - the cream ones at £5.

I was wary of using anhydrol forte/driclor when pregnant for some reason and I don't think I'll go back to it after finding these.

Magicmayhem · 01/02/2012 22:10

I second Mitchum... DD uses the spray... works for her...

JasperJohns · 01/02/2012 22:17

Driclor works brilliantly but stings like fuck. I suddenly started being really sweaty and deodorant wasn't working. I only had to use it twice, but Jesus! I nearly tore my armpits off with the sting/itching.

I wouldn't be too keen to use on a teenager as it must have really strong ingredients.

Oh, she might also look at changing to a anti-perspirant designed for men. I switched at to Mitcham, then one that is no longer made and after that to Sanex (dark blue cap). Essentially anything that doesn't smell too strong -the Sanex is quite lightly scented (in a fresh way) and does help - when ever I have to use a women's deodorant because I have run out of my usual I notice the difference.

Thank you everyone. I had suggested mitchum but have now got the stronger one and have sent for all the other to see which she likes and or which sting least. Tthanks for the help.
