Are black leather (non patent) shoes out?

I bought a pair of expensive LK Bennet platforms shoes which were reduced to £95 in black leather. Now, I am having second thoughts and I wonder whether they will look old fashioned with opaques and should I fork out for the black patent version which is £185? Shock

There is no point spending £95 on shoes which will look old fashioned, is there?

Thoughts please

I can't imagine that style shoe (apart from maybe the platform at some point (not this season) will ever go out of fashion, it's a very standard pump style.

I personally hate patent leather - it's far too try-hard and "smart-as-paint" - but I appreciate I'm in the minority.

I'd stick with what you've got - agree with Karbea - hard to imagine that shoe shape dating too much regardless of the shape.

Thank you both, I was scared that there was something wrong with them because if the 5o% reduction in the sale

Just beware that LK Bennett recommend that their shoes are resoled.

Yes, I got roundly mocked by an LK Bennett assistant once when I took back a pair of shoes that had worn through the sole in 2 weeks.

Apparently my mistake was 'walking in them'

suebfg · 04/02/2012 23:15

Yes, that's why I'd never buy their shoes. Can't understand why they think anyone in their right mind would pay £££ for a pair of shoes that need to be resoled/ I've a few designer label shoes with leather soles and they have never needed resoling.

whoneedssleepanyway · 05/02/2012 09:07

I think they only need resoling if you intend to walk outside a lot in them. I have several pairs for work but always travel in, in another pair of shoes and change there and they are absolutely fine...
