Cleanser recommendations for oily skin?

I don't want anything oily, I've tried OCM and it gave me spots.

I want something, gentle, foaming (as thinking if getting a clarisonic) but deep cleansing.

At the moment I just use a boots tea tree witch hazel one, which seems ok, but looking at the ingredients is mainly alcohol based and I think maybe I should be using something gentler, but NOT oily.

La Roche Posay Effaclar is nice. Have a look in a big-ish Boots.

Thanks, that sounds like the kind of thing I'm after, I'll look for it in Boots.

I like Dr Nick Lowe's foaming cleanser here. I also like the SPF15 moisturiser.

Thanks that looks like another possibility, but I cantbsee an ingredient kist to check for alcohol. Will look in Boots.

I can heartily recommend this decleor one I have used it for years and it is great. It is a foaming one you use with water.

Hot cloth cleansing with Liz Earle cleanser does wonders for my oily skin as recomended by lovely Sali Hughes here

QuinnFabray · 30/01/2012 15:40

Liz Earle broke me out badly, which is a shame, because apart from that I liked it.

I like the Clinique foaming cleanser, and the Alpha H cleansers work really well on my oily skin too. Also, Cetaphil is an excellent gentle cleanser.

MordechaiVanunu · 30/01/2012 16:22

Yes I'm faired Liz earle would break my skin out as it's quite an oily based one isn't it?

Where can you buy Alpha H is it only online?

Decleor looks lovely, I did love their oils when I used them, but a bit pricey an hard to get hold of.

I buy Decleor from the John and Ginger website and they usually send some freebies too. You can also get it on ebay quite often at bargain prices. I usually only need about 2 bottles a year so it is a big outlay but lasts a long time. I do see your point about price though.

The other product I have found good is the seaweed range from the Body shop.

I use Clinique soap for oily skin but I also really like Aveda which is gentler. Boots Botanics foaming face wash is actually really good too.
